Would be neat if so, but they never announced that. And they never entered under R.L.L. before. Maybe best bet to get an M8 on the grid is in GTE-AM with Walkenhorst perhaps. They are running an M6 in AsLMS this month.

I'm all for that team and what they stand for. But is it still considered an "Innovative Car"? Yes, they have to adjust it to fit the needs of their drivers. But that's not innovative anymore in my opinion. They have done it before in 2016 at Le Mans. And at the time there already were, and still are, multiple road cars customed to the needs of amputee drivers. I think perhaps they should have filed a normal LMP2 entry.

A slightly mean-spirited opinion. If there was no-one else clammering for the spot for an innovation car (not surprising in the current economic climate) then you might as well use the the G56 slot for a diversity entry rather than yet more random gentlemen drivers.

I'd assume both Porsche and Ferrari will field additional works cars in Pro (Risi might be the 3rd or 4th Ferrari entry in Pro). It also safe to expect multiple ELMS and AsLMS runners to file entries for additional Am cars (auto invites and others). All in all roughly 10 entries in Pro and 20 in Am I'd say. |

Hopefully both Porsche and Ferrari will field enough cars. I look forward to another great battle between the two Marques, especially if they have plenty of talented drivers. Shouldn’t be short of choices

Asian Le Mans Series auto-invites have been set:
https://www.motorsport.com/aslms/new...paign=widget-1 G-Drive and United Autosports for winning LMP2 and LMP3 respectively. And the top 4 in the GT class all get entries - Herberth, GPX, Rinaldi, and Optimum Motorsport. Congrats to all those teams, hopefully they can all take their places at the race, the current plague notwithstanding. |

This is where the GT3/GTE split looks a bit awkward. The GT field in ALMS is open to any GT3 car but is still mostly Astons, Ferraris and Porsches because if you are going to step up to one of the other ACO series or LM it makes sense to have a relationship with a GTE manufacturer. I wonder if Optimum will take up their place at LM and what car they will run.

We'll see if they can get a deal to run an Aston. Depends if they have the budget and how much Aston want to see their cars winning Le Mans. With the F1 team now in place, who knows how much that will affect any sportscar programme

GPX decide not to take up their Le Mans invitation:
http://www.dailysportscar.com/2021/0...nvitation.html Apparently, the other 3 Asian GT invitees have all submitted entries. |

That's a shame, but they're probably being realistic....

WRT lineup revealed. Will be interested to see how Habsburg stacks up in the WEC. Also some major R18 ultra vibes to their livery. |

Habsburg seems to be a decent pedaller to me. Not a superstar (at least not yet) and probably overshadowed by Colapinto in the AsLMS but decent, nonetheless.

Habsburg has always been decent in whatever series he ran. He's not an obvious choice, certainly compared to other drivers, but he is a safe pair of hands and is very useful for this type of event

Racing Royal's I know that Prins Joakim of Denmark is a keen racer in a classic Lotus Cortina, but will never be an international racer. is there others that we know of? |

Richard "King" Petty? More seriously, although not all perhaps A-list royalty, there are plenty of examples of nobility participating The Earl of Dumfries Earl Howe Prince Nicholas of Romania entered a Duesernberg at LM in the Thirties, which he drove with Whitney Straight. Max Schaumberg-Lippe eneterd a BMW in the 1939 race. He was known as Prince Schaumberg-Lippe. Prince Bira drove an Alfa 8C with Raymond Sommer in 1939 Doubtless there are many more..... |

Did Petty ever compete at Le Mans? I know there have been NASCAR drivers like Cale who have taken part, but not sure about Petty
There have been quite a few royals at Le Mans yes. Dumfries is probably the most successful, although Earl Howe did quite well too I think? And all the other names mentioned were quite good, especially Bira Can't think of anymore. We did have a Lord in Lord Drayson racing in it once, but that's not the same |
