Word is that it is to be an updated version of 'The Chain', judging by supposed insiders on other fora. *sigh*
I have to say this isn't surprising. |

I see ITV are using Iron Maiden's Phantom of the Opera to advertise that "I'm an alleged Celebrity...what was my agent thinking" crap. I mentioned this music earlier as one of my recommendations and I still think this would work brilliantly hearing it again.

They may as well have not bothered using The Chain if it's not the original.

Either use The Chain, or use something else. We do not want some Judge Ronsonfold re-imagining of the original. It'll end up like that modern interpretation of Whole Lotta Love used by Top of the Pops (ask your Dad). Horrible. |

I always thought that Billy Ocean's 'Red light spell danger' would be fitting, but it's definitely going to be 'the chain'.

I think the temptation to have "The Chain" in a revampted form will be irresistable. It'll be down to who they get to do it. There are dream and Nightmare scenarios.
Dream scenarios (People who have the soul to pull off a good cover) Peter Green, obviously. Slash. Jimmy Page. Zakk Wilde. Metallica maybe. Nightmares (People who'll just make a dreadful screechy noise in the same key as the Chain) Yngwie Malmsteen Steve Vai Moby Anybody who tries to play the solo without a les paul, an SG a telecaster or a strat. I have this horrid, creeping thought in my head telling me to expect the above nightmares to been seen walking into a studio in Maida Vale with Mutt Lange and Celine bleeding Dion any day now |

Sadly I fear your nightmare scenarios are 100% likely. But it should not be revamped by anyone, no matter how worthy.

The Chain just being The Chain as done by the people who should do it and have done it. There is no need to do any revamping of any form.
If they are unable to countenence the idea of leaving the bloody tune alone, then they should use something different. Given all these possiblities, I imagine it is very likely we are going to get some horrible version of The Chain (at best an OK version, but still completely unnecessary).
