Well it was all Suzuki on the podium both days at Road Atlanta. Spies picked up a point for pole, but finished second in both races. Mladin swept the weekend with Yates third both days.

Caught a comment from Zemke admitting that Honda do not have traction control.

Spies leads Mladin by 20 points with one race to go at Mid Ohio.

Here's an odd gossip page. Seems like paddock gossip is all a bit crazy in AMA Superbike at the moment.

From - http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2006/Sep/060920b.htm

"Knowledgeable sources say that Jamie Hacking (35) will ride Kawasaki machines in 2007, including the Superbike class.

Hacking has ridden for Yamaha for the past several years, culminating his tenure with Brand Y by winning both the Supersport and Superstock championships this season
."

If that's true then Yamaha have lost their minds. Either that, or they are not going superbike racing in AMA next year as rumored.

Well, we have a new AMA Superbike Champion! Ben Spies took the title after finishing 7th at the final round. He did what he needed to on an odd weekend.

This was one of the best races of the season after the factory riders were forced to take provisionals and start at the back (due to a protest over wet weather riding). But in the end, Sunday's race was dry. Duhamel and Yates clashed early on with Hodgson and Mladin staging a great battle in the later stages. Mladin eventually cleared Hodgson and then Yates to take the win.

MV Agustas in 2007! Eraldo Ferracci will be running the team. It will have two riders and MV Agusta support. Luca Scassa will be one of the riders.

Ducati are back for 2007. Just not in superbike. They'll be backing Pegram Racing for the Formula Xtreme championship. Larry Pegram will ride a 749R backed by Ducati North America with technical experience from Ducati Corse.

I think we'll see Attard and Buckmaster back. Not sure about Gobert, but there was a thread about him.

Gerben24 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
These are the testing times from a rain shortened session California Speedway (do they know rain in California???):

1 Ben Spies Suzuki GSX-R1000 1'24.22 Superbike
2 Mat Mladin Suzuki GSX-R1000 1'24.75 Superbike
3 Tommy Hayden Suzuki GSX-R1000 1'25.20 Superbike
4 Roger Hayden Kawasaki ZX-10R 1'25.70 Superbike
5 Miguel Duhamel Honda CBR1000RR 1'25.71 Superbike
6 Eric Bostrom Yamaha YZF-R1 1'25.98 Superbike
7 Jamie Hacking Kawasaki ZX-10R 1'26.00 Superbike
8 Jason DiSalvo Yamaha YZF-R1 1'26.05 Superbike
9 Ben Bostrom Yamaha YZF-R1 1'26.05 Superstock
10 Jake Zemke Honda CBR1000RR 1'26.49 Superbike
11 Josh Hayes Honda CBR600RR 1'26.88 Formula Xtreme
12 Aaron Gobert Honda CBR600RR 1'27.60 Formula Xtreme
13 James Ellison Honda CBR1000RR 1'27.82 Superbike
14 Roger Hayden Kawasaki ZX-6R 1'27.90 Supersport
15 Miguel Duhamel Honda CBR600RR 1'28.00 Formula Xtreme
16 Aaron Gobert Honda CBR600RR 1'28.11 Supersport
17 Ben Attard Kawasaki ZX-6R 1'28.15 Formula Xtreme
18 Josh Hayes Honda CBR600RR 1'28.20 Supersport
19 Josh Herrin Yamaha YZF-R6 1'29.72 Supersport
20 Tommy Hayden Suzuki GSX-R600 1'30.25 Supersport

James Ellison kinda slow. I know he still got some learning to do, but that is a big difference there. I wish him all the best though!

Looks like it's gonna be another Suzuki cup.

I'd put Hodgson above Ellison on ability, but I think James could do pretty well on a factory BSB or WSB entry. Hard to make any solid guesses on performance when it's been in wet conditions, although Spies and Mladin at the top is nothing unusual.

Its very hard to rate JAmes really, he did a sterling jhob on the WCM bike and out rode all his team mates there, but was woeful on the M1 coz he couldnt adapt to the way the bike needed to be ridden.

But you should also remember that he rode very well in junior superstock before the exact same thing happened and he signed fro Eckl in Supersport, disappearing without trace after a terrible season.

Then he bounced back again with the Jentin R1 in BSB, nearly getting a few podiums, getting close to the Virgin bikes and also doing well in the WSB races as he was the only BSB runner on Pirellis.

The jurys out I think.

I don't think Hodgson did a bad job. Don't forget that the AMA superbike rules are different to the European superbike rules (so I have been told). This meant that it was always difficult for Hodgson to win in the US.

I rate James quite high. Last season wasn't good for his image. There are not a lot of people that know that he was the only one that had to ride with the chatter-chassis until quite late into the season. Carlos Checa was on fire last season, which also made James look kinda bad.

Lots of differences. The Suzuki's just work better with the AMA rules. Ducatis not so much.
