Who knows But I think they're pretty sure Shank won't try that again, he knows how it ends already. Maybe they just want to try something new that they've never done before (running a car almost entirely themselves I mean).

I'm out of touch with the race as I was on holiday.
But here is some lap comparisons. Average Lap time
Top 3 close. BMW a little behind. Lamborghini still getting up to speed (and down to weight?). |

IMSA probably the place for any privateer entries in hypercar to run in 2025 if they want. But Porsche is the only one available still? Also if IMSA grid is at capacity. The obvious thing to do to allow more hypercars is to reduce LMP2 size. |

Or so people have told Dagys "With those two chassis, owned by private collectors linked to the British squad, unlikely to be put into race action next year, it could open the door for further cars to be produced." |

They said that there will probably not be any Acura NSXs in GTD/GTD Pro next year.

It is a car that is getting long in the tooth, and unless you are a Vasser type operation and can do your own development as they have it is likely to be a slower option than a Mustang, which in the USA is also probably easier to get backers for.

I think both the Honda and Datson are obviously used in Japan in GT300, but not sure about anywhere else. The Acura has showed pace but not with the perm drivers sadly.

Man just imagine a GT3, GT4 and TCR car on the same chassis, the FIA is already twitching on just the idea of it

TCR are actually hugely quick in lots of places, they run hillclimbs in Europe very quickly considering they are basically a 350hp fwd car, and in IMSA on some tracks they are very quick, was it not Mid Ohio they were on the same lap in Michelin Cup! That is an impressively engineered car making maximum use of its power.

Including GTD cars in VP Sportscar series..I did not see that one coming. If that one post series IMSA race at Sebring a few years back was an indication. The GT3 cars are close enough to LMP3 in speed that they would take over the overall lead during off sequence periods when the P3's pit but before they do.
Also this series uses the single driver sprint race format I think. It was as if IMSA came up with this idea to allow GTD in the series after GT WC America decided to keep the 90 minute format and NOT go single driver/sprint. |

Well the drivers and more importantly teams can see what's needed to stay afloat. One series makes it much much easier to sell time in Daytona and enduros with seat time in a GT4 or GTD car for the Bronze folks
I'm also more interested in the series now and wonder if they are worried about loss of LMP3s with the new cars coming on and possibly delayed delivery. Did notice it could require multiple cars and crew notes, no torque sensors for GTDX. I'm guessing they don't reuse cars between VP Challenge and Michelin Pilot and it's not just new badges between races. https://sportscar365.com/imsa/vp-rac...nge-next-year/ Last edited by broadrun96; 29 Aug 2024 at 20:45. |
