Everything's understood but why three races per weekend?

So they're again thinking on a move to Class One, a regulation merge between a Super GT (Super Grand Touring) and DTM whoose cars in reality are not even close to a touring car to be honest
I have a great respect for both series (Super GT and DTM), but from a touring car point of view makes really no sense. Then I'm really curious about how they're figuring out this Class one/World Touring Car Championship. Not so many time ago we had the ITCC and we know how it failed. From my point of view, it makes sense that DTM and Super GT remain both national championships with some events or finale to be shared together. That's my opinion. TCR is the best thing after the first S2000 cars with no discredit for the Gold Era of the Super Touring cars |

what car makers would wish to enter a super expensive class 1 touring car, as the past shows such championships always collapse pretty quickly

WTCC worked quite well with the slower S2000 cars... and the car Roberto Ravaglia drove in 1987 to the first WTCC title had 50hp less then TCR. But 3 races per weekend sounds awesome!

Im curious to know how it will be the format in the weekend. One race on Saturday and two on sunday or three races on Saturday. Im also interested to know how long the race Will be and how will be made the grid for race 2 and 3. Lets hope that almost all ex wtcc drivers will partecipate next year (except those taxi driver like coronel and michigami) together with the best tcr drivers (just the top 10) and we will have great championship!

World Touring Car Cup doesn't sound very well and it looks like a huge degradation - adding less powerful cars and no manufacturers. But at least a good number of entries + a few established names probably. I wish them luck. I wonder what the future holds for the WTCR or however we call it.

It's good that TCR is the category in use, but there was really no other choice. I hope Lotti keeps a firm grip of it because the FIA will only ruin it if he doesn't.
It's a shame that Eurosport is the promoter, and therefore, broadcaster. The series will have worse coverage than TCR International, like WTCC did. I don't like the fact that they're limiting wildcard entries. Surely the point of TCR regulations is to make the sport accessible to as many competitors as possible? Why discourage them from competing? From the 2017 TCR International regs: Quote:

Happy they are limiting the wildcards.
Could have an FIA 'World Cup' with a completely different field each race – because there are so many TCR cars about – and in a worse case scenario the title winner may not have completed all races, or be someone who finished 5th in every race, or a gaggle of local drivers could get in the way. Or, just have a crash at the back for light entertainment. |
