It does seem crazy he keeps doing this. I've heard that Fabrizio Giovanardi is on standby like last year to race Matt's Honda if he isn't able to.

its unclear if Dan Welch will race, wonder why he didn't use this opportunity to do a HARD and find a one off pay driver

Worth it for manufacturer points, but not for much else. Gow would cripple his car with max ballast like he did with Thompson in 2011 in the Focus.

but wouldn't the replacement driver not have to endure that because its not a new car, just a different driver ?

and in terms of boost there is hardly any penalties here, the Honda already have lowest boost

The Administrator is allowed to add ballast at his discretion, which he did in the past with Reid in 2009 and Thompson in 2011. Those were additional cars though, so maybe he wouldn't do that with a sub driver.

I very much doubt Neal will miss out, he always manages to race. It's a nice headline from Steve Neal's PR machine.

indeed

what you can be sure if Neal has not a superb weekend compared to his rivals he will very likely be forced to be rear gunner for Shedden in the final

Substitute driver takes over the ballast from the driver they are temporarily substituting for. It's additional drivers that get max ballast.

Anyone heard any more news of Matt Neal's obligatory late-season finger break? Because he's done it again. At least it isn't a hand...

It would be an expensive weekend if they trash the car and since he is not in any championship battles, probably better just to show up and do the VIP guest thing rather than having to spend all the time adapting the car to a new driver.

Has anyone heard any news about Andy Rouse developing the new Ford Sierra? I think he could really do well in the BSCC if he goes ahead with it and replaces the Rover.

Dan Welch is racing by the way. With some extra padding on his seat!

Will there be a replacement driver for Neal this weekend? Maybe Giovanardi?

I can't see Neal passing on the round for a broken finger when Welch is racing with a fractured pelvis.

Silverstone timetable updated with combined Porsche event, so a slightly later start at 0945.

Good on Dan ! You have to admire his determination and stoicism. This has been one rotten year for them... and they try so hard. If anyone deserves a bit of good luck it's Welch Motorsport.

Talking of Rob Austin, it has been confirmed that he will be driving his 1976 Surtees F1 car during the lunch break at Silverstone.

He just keeps getting more popular!

I think one of the reasons for RAR being "loved" more than Welch's team is because Rob Austin puts himself across very publicly and we all love his personality, whilst Welch isn't as much of a character in front of the cameras...
