Crikey, some of those are incredibly rare.

I don't think i've ever seen a decent view of the Sunbeam, RS2000 or Fiesta before, well not since I was at Thruxton that very year, which I don't remember much about now anyway!

I take it the shooter is Simon Arron of Autosport fame, I think he loved saloons before F3000 took his attention.

Yes, AFAIK it's the same Simon Arron- he's a fairly regular poster over there. They're from a very long-running thread of 'personal photos from British club racing' which has turned up some real gems from various people...

Here's my stab at what's relevant for 1982. As the pictures in general seems to be from Oulton Park, it sets the date on April 4th 1982, as it was the only round of the BSCC held at Oulton in 1982. The entries were split in two seperate races - one for class A and B and another for C and D.

Vince Woodman, but can't tell which year. The number and positions of Dunlop stickers might tell those better in the know.

Remarks on race 1-3

I've just finished the 1982 BSCC for my site from Motoring news, and below is what I found on additional or differing info:

Race 1: some more overall positions (13/14/19) and total time for class winners; Burrows didn't get 4 points for third so I guess he was a DNF; Dooley retired of oil loss; Kirby was a non-starter instead of DNA

Race 2: pole according to MN was 50,45 instead of 50,54; there's a typo in Rouse total time; Buckley finished 4th in class according to MN but didn't get points; total time for class winners; I guess Terry Watts' number was 67 (it was at Oulton); Thorpe had an accident indeed; Robertson's Fiesta wasn't an XR2 - that was homologated in october 1982 as far as I know.

Race 3:
Dickinson finished 11th, Sawyer-H 12th; Buckley's practice time doesn't seem right.
Robertson has #45 in the entry list; Watts and Tait retired; MN gives Lanfranchi second on the grid and Morris third; Dooley and Thorpe are switched on the grid.

Races 4-6

Race 4
Palmer seems to have been disqualified since he got no points but Burrows got points for fourth; I considered Sytner as DNF; Tait finished 6th in class

Race 5
no remarks

Race 6
I have Robertson as a non-starter ("too late")

Races 10-11

Race 10:
according to MN, tomekeepers confused Soper and Longman; in the it was corrected, Soper got 1.45,8 and Longman 1.46,2.

Race 11:
Positions 11-15 are Morris, Irvine, Lanfranchi, Soper and Nightingale; Thorpe, Greenhalgh and Brundle all retired

A Ford Fiesta 1.6 - the American version? - was homologated for group 1 on January 1st 1980. I'm quite sure that the XR2 was around the streets during the summer of 1982, but no sooner.

Thank you for the updates, Frank. Looking forward to the updates on your site.

IIRC the XR2 actually hit the Ford dealers in 1981....

Believe you're right about the standard 1600cc engine/car being homolgated though.

Yes, a normal 1.6 was homologated allright. But there had to be 5000 Cars built before homologation.

Had a second look at the qualifying times and found that Buckley recorded a 1:14.66 in Q1 and the quoted 1:12.99 in Q2 - but I'll give you, it doesn't seem right. In the text it says the two Escort were bringing up the rear, meaning Buckley and Dickinson, with the Dolomite of Hamish Irvine being just in front in 1:14.49 in Q1 and DNP in Q2 due to a cracked brake disc.

Sorry to dig up a 12-year old thread, but the internet has changed a lot in over a decade and these photo links no longer work. Simon Arron sadly passed away last month. Does anyone know how I can view some of the images from 1982?

Also, I have worked through a variety of source materials, mostly original results and starting grid sheets (such as this one), and published the 1982 results online at TouringCars.Net now. This should help to fill in some of the gaps from Frank's site.

Good job, Andrew. I have already been able to add a bit of new data from your site to my 1982-BSCC spread sheat.

Frank are sorely missed, and although nothing happens on his site, very importandly, it's still there! Only recently I used it to get a bit of understanding of the lover level German touring car scene during the 1960s-1980s, with lots of airfield dates.
