These rounds are 100% funded by the organisers and international exposure IS good for the sport, good for the sponsors and good for the manufacturers. |

On the topic of the older night races which were discussed earlier, I uploaded the night race from Eastern Creek in 96 recently.

finally someone has seen the light on Tilke's tracks, Abu Dhabi included, and agree they are as boring as the bats proverbial...

Well, Well. How good would it be to see the V8s on a track that would be sufficiently wide to suit them! Getting a bit sick of hearing how much better the WTCC (Why is there a "W" there?) is than the V8SC. Last edited by rdmdog; 4 Jan 2010 at 09:11. |

Yes, but the comment being made is that the championship would be shorter, like in the past, without these overseas rounds we would just have the existing Australian rounds.

I think you will find that it only ran for 4 years before an overseas round - The Black Wiggle tells everyone that it started in 1997 remember....

Sure that there would be many more talented young drivers than "Murph" who would have committed to every round. I have a feeling that it won't cost him the championship though and that he could probably do many more shows. |

Murphy: "Yeah, I'd like nothing more than to get that 5 off of the window and just have the 1 there"
I've heard him say that more than one year leading into a season now and it's getting boring and bit of a joke! This is his best shot in years at maybe looking like he has half a chance and he stuffs it up like this! You're supposed to be a professional race car driver, Murph! So WTF are you doing doing a TV show when you're supposed to be driving in the opening round of the championship you idiot! You dont see Jimmy Johnson missing the Daytona 500 to do a few interviews for Speed TV do you. I don't care whether it was your management team who stuffed it up, you yourself or the excuse that the opening round date wasn't realesed yet when you signed for top gear, I just don't care. The whole thing shows a tremendous lack of forsight and commitment and seriously reduces your callibre and reputation as a so-called "professional" race car driver. What's the point of even racing for the rest of the season if you miss the first round and your supposed to be "in the hunt for the championship". FOFF Murph as far as I'm concerned. Very very VERY poor form! |

On the positve side, at least with PM back, the teams will be able to fit their shortened cars on the freighter more easily for the trip home.

Is New Zealand that short of motorsport personalities that the Top Gear Live show couldn't replace Murf? How about Craig Baird or Paul Radisich? Maybe the $$$ are too big to turn down? Agree his commitment level is up there with Dumbrell's.

Interesting to note TGL is sponsored by Shell, surely Murf could have got out on clash of sponsorship grounds. http://www.topgearlive.co.nz/

yeah seems like water tight contract.
it was pretty dopey commiting to TGL before the calendar was released and hopefully he has learned his lesson as it could and probably will cost him a run at the championship. |
