Awesome news all round. Wonder if this switch to the JAF chassis GR Supra is signalling toward the demise of the RC-F GT3? |

That does seem to be the case. I recall Lexus pulling out the RC-F from European racing, so it might not stick for much longer. At least its engine found a new home in a gorgeous JAF GT car

There are rumors that the Nissan GTR cannot be the basic vehicle for next-gen FIA-GT3 vehicles.
Therefore, Nissan will develop the 400Z GT300. |

What makes the next-gen GT3 cannot be based on GT-R R35?

It seems that the vehicle price is too low to be a base vehicle.

It also makes sense since Nissan is probably no longer interested in GT3 anyway. They're not racing in Europe or the US anymore, so they might just as well build a JAF-spec car.

I remember at 2012 when there was a concern that GT3 cars dominated entire GT300 field. |

Good to see more proper GT300s entering this year. GT3s aren't very interesting.

I'm thinking GT300 will go back to what it was back then.

Yup, at the moment it's only competing in the US and Japan. Seems like the Supra will take over duties in GT4, wonder if they will make a GT3 replacement? LC-F maybe? Quote:
That would be pretty cool. Quote:
This is absolutely crazy. Isn't the GT-R a $100k car right now? Here for this! |

I think LC500 (or LCF if Lexus seriously think about it) will be more logical for the next gen GT3. GT-R had problem on its base price so I think Supra won't be able to make it. |

About GTR, I think it clearly because too old and they make weird excuse for avoid fanboy protest (I mean... GT-R fanboy just like...) but outside from that we will see lot bespoke racecars again in future.
Even, maybe we will see some car in JAF-GT300 development as FIA-GT3 class. |

You are correct.
The price limit was Z35 (= 400Z) instead of R35. I've re-checked the rumor source (GTR magazine). The magazine says that The R35 might be discontinued in 2022 due to emission gas regulations. And Nissan officially admits that the next-gen GT3 of R35 is not currently under development. However, Z35 is not suitable for GT3 due to price restrictions. Therefore, the transition to (JAF-) GT300 is a natural process. |

I know this thread is for the 2021 season but i'm curious on you guys thought about what's going to happen to the GT500 class at the end of 2023 since GTA confirmed a new direction in 2024. Will it go back to pre DTM silhouette monsters or something totally different? Maybe even go the LMDh route which I wouldn't mind.
