The old 70s and 80s Trans AM racing at Road America were very cool. Watched many of them myself.

Funny part is back then we thought they were fast, Now we run practice laps and qualifier laps on Road America as fast as many of the old CAN-AM cars did back then.

The Trans-Am Audi, which in a tube frame era was built the old way, a modified production car, ran in the later eighties. (This made it a greater embarrassment to the Detroit teams.)
The IMSA Audi was a full tube frame car.

sorry...been living under the "job hunting" rock!

back to the grassroots! BIG & LOAD, what American GT racing should be all about. For the SWC arguement...good racing, cool cars, but nothing like what the Trans Am cars were, even in the later years.

was at the last Trans Am race at Road ATL and plan on being there in March. won't get my hopes up after that, but I would like to think if all the cards are played right, this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Personally, I'm not getting too wound up about it. Wait and see mode, big time.

That would be correct also. It will be amajor accomplishment of the series if they just survive to see a 2nd season, much less gain much momentum. But for one year at least we may see the thunder again and that ain't bad!
