And to add to that the top GT3 cars will only be marginally slower than the GT2 cars last year were, half a second a lap at most I would say. The performance differnce between GT3 and GT2 wont be as much as what it was between GT1 and GT2 was, in fact by 2008 I would guess that the GT3 cars are lapping faster than the 2006 spec GT2 cars.

Yes but there is no need to change things, things are good as they are and people will still flock to British GT this year, more so this year than last perhaps with the series looking to be more open than it has been for years. The cars and the racing will be entertaining enough, there wont be any real differnce in overall performance between this years GT3 cars and last years GT2 machines. Added to that, moving away from the FIA GT3 regulations and tweaking them to suit your purposes isnt a good thing. Especially when the series looks to be managing very well with the current ones. IMO.

I doubt anything will be announced officially until the Press Day (March 15th if our fellow posters are to be believed)

I think Damax confirmed they'd have an Ascari or two in the series this season. I can't remember which team also announced they'd have a couple of Gallardos this year?

Team Skater are also supposed to be entering a Dodge Viper this year, replacing their Marcos LM500.

Don't forget Rollcentre's GT3 Mosler. In fact, there are supposed to be a few Moslers this year if I remember correctly.

So to summarise it should be quite competitive I can see 20 cars happening at some stage this year (+GTC of course):
Barwell Motorsport Aston Martin DBRS9 - Cocker/Drayson Aston Martin DBRS9 - Alexander/Bentwood Aston Martin DBRS9 - Harrington/? JMH Racing Ferrari F430 - Burton/Wilcox Moore Racing Dodge Viper - Fenton/Gardiner <-- That's us Team Skater Dodge Viper - ?/? Team Eurotech Ascari KZ1GT - Jones/Jones Team RPM Dodge Viper - Ellis/Mortimer Dodge Viper - ?/? Porsche 997 GT3 - ?/? Porsche 997 GT3 - ?/? Damax Ascari KZ1GT - ?/? Ascari KZ1GT - ?/? Rollcentre Mosler GT3 - ?/? Mosler GT3 - ?/? Tech 9 Porsche 997 GT3 - Bryant/Harris Team Modena Gallardo ?/? Gallardo ?/? Wood/Scott (not sure of the team name) Jaguar XKR (tbc) There are no Exiges ont he list and I believe there is at least one more Viper deal in the offing... Archibold |

I remember reading on an article on the BGT website, they gave a small list of manufacturers represented in the championship this year - Corvette was mentioned, but not heard a single thing since. Any ideas?

Three more to add to the list:
Morgan Aero (Keith Ahlers) Ginetta - Richmond Racing (My wifes favourite car and nicknamed the 'Lipstick Car' by my kids and the Team Tiger Marcos of Chris Beighton and Jon Finnemore! WOOT. It was my first season last year and there is something inspiring about the Mantis that I just dont feel with the other Marcos's. |

Oh I miss the LM600, much nicer than the Mantis! But always glad to see Marcos represented.
Hows GTC looking overall, then? Not heard much from that class... |

DSC are suggesting that the Cup Class will be fairly modest for 2007.
Also, while I'm here, I notice on the EERC website James Tucker is claiming: Quote:

Hope so too, but I suspect it is. DSC has been doing both series, and basically anything in the world including GARRA, for years now.

It is indeed 'chunter' - DSC will be covering both (and most everything else) in 2007.
