Just want to echo David's remarks. The weekend was great, the flaggies were brilliant and everything ran very smoothly. To all the officials we can not thankyou enough for your time.

I would actually say the flaggies were some of the best I have experienced. During my sessions we had a few incidents, slow cars, oil down and a lot of overtaking. On every occasion the flags were spot on and more importantly very fast to respond. Coming down the mountain I was shoved an oil flag in my face by a guy hanging off the wall, which was brilliant. Thankyou to you.
All yellows, whites, reds and blues were perfectly executed all round the track which is critical at a place such as Bathurst.

Thankyou again to everyone.

Thanks for your kind remarks everyone.... It was a trying time with not enough flaggies on the monday and tuesday but without the drivers coming to help out we would not have been able to play.

What a fantastic weekend up at Bathurst, Gotta say I loved Glen Taylor vs Pretty battles until Taylor broke down. I was amazed how good the Lotus guys look over the top, so settled and planted. and those turbo MX5's...god they are quick too. Great weather across the five days until late afternoon on Tuesday when the rain came. Some nice machinery across the five days and some great racing! Oh and all those volunteers that managed 5 days of being trackside...well done!

Can anyone tell me how badly damaged the GT40 was and whether it would be able to race again? Shame i didn't get to see it, would like to in the future though!

Iains GT40 is not that bad at all. I was following him VERY CLOSELY when he hit. From behind, it looked like the car skewed sideways on downshift into skyline. He glanced the wall on the right and bounced across to the left (now bitumen) run off area. I inherited the lead. Next lap he was gone. He got back to the pits ok. Chatting afterwards, it looks like a wheel, some carbon work, and i'm sure upon a closer look, he will need a few wishbones.
Motorsport news made it sound bad... it was not.

Just got back from a holiday with the family after a big weekend at Bathurst.

A big thankyou to all the officials and fellow competitors who made it such a great event, the standard of driving around me was very good. Hopefully I'll get my videos sorted soon.

Paul.

Well you weren't 'lacking' anything across the top!
(and neither was that 'clubman')

No, the car felt quite good across the top, just need a little more than 100hp at the wheels to match it with the others up and down the mountain

Thanks TCR, I've never raced there before, what an amazing track!! The first time I went down Conrod and the car got light over the rise it was a little unnerving, but I soon settled in and put in some good laps although I'd like try it on Pirelli tyres that I'm more used to.
What was the low, wide, yellow car that I saw in the video?

GT40 Replica.

Actually belongs to a guy who normally races an MX5 with us but he had problems with the Mazda and ran that car in the last race instead. I really had a WTF moment when I pulled out and went passed him on Conrod, considering my lack of power

Speaking to him afterwards, the car was getting a bit unsettled going down Conrod, so he wasn't game to go any quicker

Hey TCR,

What sort of a budget would it take to run a car similar to yours for say, 3 - 4 rounds in a year?

I'll take a guess at that Nick and say a lot less than it costs me!
What tyres do you run TCR and how many rounds do you get from a set?

My racing budget per year is about $7000. Provided I don't have any panel damage and/or breakdowns, that will usually get me about 5 local rounds and 1 interstate trip.

Most of the guys I run with use Toyo R888 or Kuhmo V70a tyres and we will usually get 12 months out of a set.

I've personally found the Dunlops to be an awseome tyre, the only minus being with 3 compounds on offer it can get pretty expensive!

The medium compound is a little softer than the R888's & the hard ones a little harder, but still managed a lap time slightly better than the Toyo on a back to back test. The hard compound takes an extra lap or 2 to come good...

Wish I was there with you guys this year!
