The radical reformation in the way McLaren presented itself in the paddock at Bahrain is an example of a significant change in the way the team and its supporters will be marketed in the future.
Whitmarsh has obviously taken the present opportunity to represent the team and as long as it employs a wider , more open, more transparent and embracing stance it is not likely to lose its major support from the largest shareholder. How much influence Mr Haug and the M.Benz management has had on that action we are not privvy to. |

this could really be a fantastic thing for Mclaren in the long term,
Ron's gone - he did great things for the team, but as the years progressed he seemed to lose his grip on the real world and human aspect of the team so a fresh set of hands at the wheel could do well. The current mess up's may lead the team to be "human" again, and start just being open and honest and "normal" rather than having a massive pressure to appear "open and honest and fun". A new fresh face Mclaren could rise from the fall out ashes, I'm not taking anything away from the Ron Mclaren era, he did some amazing things, but the control factor of clean post race interview race suites with stiffened logos so they are always %100 camera visable, must be clean shaven and crew cut hair, must not speak unless authorized and scripted by the team is just getting out of control and Mclaren where one of the worst offenders of this. |
