5 second stop/go for the #5 spinning the wheels ... while leaving the pit box for a previous 5 second stop/go ... for spinning the wheels.
Wheelspin by Speed Factory are living up to their name. |

The AFS Dallara rear wing is looking a bit odd. The drivers right hand endplate is slightly bent over by a couple of degrees, and the whole thing vibrates sideways over kerbs. Worth watching that.

So the #66 will have a 10 second pit stop penalty when it's done all of its regulation stops.
I know it's going to be a time penalty post-race instead, but it seems odd to announce it now in that case. |

Called it! Although it is the AVF car obviously, not AFS. Too much IMSA for me.

At least it's running - the Racing Engineering LMP2 is out of the race.

Must have been some kind of failure? The hit didn't seem that hard and Nato just walked away from it...

So now both Ferraris will have retrospective penalties for track limits.
If Cairoli can get to within a couple of seconds of the Ferraris then it will surely take the win post-race. |

If everyone has a penalty, does anyone have a penalty?

At this point race control should just stop the field and let the #88 race for 10 seconds before everyone else resumes.

Molina wins in GTE apparently, with a 10.1 second gap to Cairoli.

What a drive by the 66 to take that win. That's spectacular. The 88 knew the game was up, off the road in the final corner to try and take it.

First time taking in the Saturday of this event, as I couldn’t make the WEC race on Sunday this year.
Overall impressions were good, the 4 hour is a nice distance to be at the track for, the 6 hour format for the WEC is great but actually enjoyed a slightly shorter race as long as there’s some good support. Nice to have the WEC quali today so I still got to see the P1s through maggots/becketts- The toyotas are still menacing through there, after that the SMP’s looked pretty mighty, closely matched by the Rebellions, and actually the Kolles was impressive through there too. The Dragonspeed P1 looked like he was taking it super easy. I’m still at a loss for how people say Silverstone is a bad circuit to spectate, sure the scenery isn’t much and there’s a lot of fencing and so on around but it’s all worth it to watch the cars run. That Nissan P3 engine sounds drab.... |

Great onboards, and no music!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqcALct6efU Look how bumpy it is! I didn't realize that before. |

Trouble is, most of those stands are only open a few times a year. Even today, only half of Club is open - why? Some stands are only open twice a year, for F1 and MotoGP. And the view from trackside is mostly terrible. It’s also hard to get around - no tunnel to the Wing means long walks between paddocks. I do like Silverstone and it does have some awesome parts. But they don’t make it easy for spectators to appreciate the good bits. |

I'm another that doesn't get the dislike of Silverstone from trackside. I attended the ILMC race there and thought it was great. I found the view from trackside alright tbh. It's not as good as Donington or Knockhill, but it was far better than Daytona, Long Beach and some parts of Le Mans as well frankly.
The wind was my biggest complaint, and I understand the walking is a lot for many, although if you plan your route then it shouldn't be too bad. It does need access tunnels, but we did the whole circuit over the course of the race because we planned it correctly. |

What’s going on with Radio Silverstone??? They’re using the WEC feed on the PA.

Really hope we’re not going to be listening to Moody doing TV comms over the radios.
What are Craillsy, Palmer, Damon and Bradley doing? Just the Saturday and head home? |

Okay Radio Silverstone is now playing on 87.7fm but on the PA system they’re playing dramatic music.
So if you’re here and new to the sport, rather than actually listening to coverage which may help you get into it, you’re watching some parked cars while being cringed to death by awful music. Wtf is going on. This is truly bizarre. |
