I'm amazed no-one has referenced this article:
http://www.f1racing.net/en/news.php?newsID=58490 It's an interview with the owner of Wilux, it gives a little more insight into this story. |

The interview is revealing. Is there a recurring theme with team principals ?

Having read the interview, my sympathies lie even more with Paul Stoddard.

Doesn't sound like the deal is over yet.
BTW Wilux is paying 2 mil euros to Minardi for the year. Is this enough to have a stake in deciding how the team is run? |

Having read the article I still think that the Team and Wilux should of kept this private. This is something both sides should of had "no comment" on. I hope this does not get to people like Louise Goodman and his family and friends. I could understand Wilux wanting the money back but this issue has not just a commercial aspect but true family emotions.

It just seems the boss of Wilux is something of a control freak who wanted to run the team.

The negative publicity by far outweighs any 'damage' to Wilux by not having the logos on at Silverstone.

I read a quote from the Wilux guy where he said he was simply upset with Paul Stoddart because he wanted to pay his own respects to John Walton and Stoddart didn't consult him before doing what he did.
When you're (allegedly) paying a lot of money for sponsor space then fair enough, you should be consulted. |

Wilux weren't paying much - and the actions were taken in a grief stricken weekend.
The Wilux guy is claiming what he does about his own tribute because that suits his actions since. |

If F1 people continue to treat the companies that fund their activities inappropriately then those companies will put their money elsewhere. If your employer contracts to deliver something to you (eg your salary) and then fails to deliver would you continue to work there ? Minardi contracted to deliver advertising space and didn't deliver I hope he does a 'reverse Vodafone' - as this does not bring credit to F1 or enhance it's attractiveness as a place for sponsorship money. I understand the emotion involved but this is business and everyone in F1 proudly tells us F1 is business so wouldn't it be nice if they could 'walk the talk'.

GVROK - I think the dispute with Wilux goes back further than this incident.
Minardi terminated the contract with Wilux, not the other way round. And Stoddard says he's "unconcerned" and that the team's finances are not in doubt. So, there's no need to be worried! |

I've been on Hockenheim. Too bad Minardi is so much slower than the rest of the grid. It's almost pathetic and Minardi deserves better. Even Jordan is so much quicker. I certainly hope Minardi can close a deal with Ferrari or Toyota next year and will contract Bruni and Liuzzi/Briscoe for 2005. |

Wildschut certainly didn't hestitate in telling the world what he thought of Bruni!! Interesting actually, i got that impression of him, Wildschut confirmed it.

AN IDEA!
If Wilux sponsored Minardi and, in order to recover some of the money spent in the car, re-selled the sponsor spaces to other sponsors in their website; THEN, WHY MINARDI DON'T DO THE SAME??? (the thing: sell spaces of the car for a race-rental, in their website) At last Minardi can contact some of the sponsors that bought Wilux spaces to turn them into Minardi sponsors, Muermans Group is the main one. |

Makes you ask the question why does anyone want to sponsor Minardi?,an advertising campaign like "Use our product and come last like a Minardi" is hardly going to endear much cofidence with your customers is it ?.

Sponsorship does not necessarily need to be with a winning team to be succesful.
It's about raising awareness of the brand - and simply being involved in F1 can do that. |

Minardi and Jordan can't be generating much brand awareness then.

Minardi probably get more TV time than Sauber or Jaguar.
Whenever you see a Ferrari on screen it usually has a Minardi in front of it |
