Everyone who replied to my belief that Jaguar would show up. This was on the ALMS fans site.

I am an '07 Jaguar XK owner, so took the time to ask PG at Goodwood Festival of Speed when the car will appear. His reply was in 6 weeks time, so think it should appear soon.

And hopefully will be at Laguna when I come over the pond in October.

I don't want to get anyone fired up, and I do hope this car shows up. But if it doesn't, this is awfully reminiscient of the Lexus IS350 entry into the ALMS a few years ago.

How so? This isn't a factory effort, pulling the plug on built cars...

I would like to know more about the Lexus story, like why it didn't happen and what the car was gonna look and sound like.

Either way, its not a factory effort, or even a factory backed effort (unlike the Lexus).

No, its not. But this wouldn't be the first time that an ALMS GT2 campaign was announced that doesn't make it to the track. I would love to see more evidence that this thing is moving forward. The Lexus had some clips and some pictures.

On that the Bear tells me he agrees with you. His reference to the still-born Lexus was not because it was a factory program, but rather on the basis that it was a much-hyped GT entry that "just faded away."

Just as an interesting aside, though, just who is funding the Jaguar GT2? Agricultural imports? Nightclub construction?

Not saying that the Jag will similarly fade away, just that programs "underperforming" their "press" gets old.

Don't Rocketsport's have to have some factory assistance to at least homologate the car? That being the case what if the Jaguar personel at Le Man's this year were looking at a GT2 car built by another company, could that hold up or even prevent the Rocketsport's GT2 being homologated?

From Rocketsports PR...

Quote:
We are near completion with our new Jaguar XKRS. Rocketsports Racing has a proud history as a constructor of championship winning race cars and it has been a great opportunity for us to build our newest project without time constraints. RSR will announce the unveiling and first appearance within a few weeks.
Uh, ok...

There are ties between them, but they seem minute at the moment.

DAGYS: Jaguar has come on board as a technical and marketing partner and will not be providing any commercial support at this time. Do you envision increased manufacturer support and assistance in the future?

Id prefer if Jag would come along with someone else alot of things PG touches ends up failing and falling apart.

This may be true, but the Jags he ran in Trans Am a few years back were the class of the field, so he can do some things right.

Yes, they were the class of his field. I'm with Mike on this one and am not real excited about this effort.

Well some, myself included, do not see the antichrist when PG comes into view either! That he failed to bring around the ailing 2 series, where he became involved in the management of, is unfortunate.

I just tuned back in, thanks for all the info. My hope was to see the Jag this weekend at Mid Ohio, and wasn't having much luck finding out the status of the project.
