I'll be arriving on Tuesday morning. Usually there's not much traffic or police presence then. I'm hoping that the alcohol Nazis will be gunning for Wednesday on and will leave us alone on Tuesday for the most part. I'll be prepared either way. I'll just have to remember where I've stashed everything later in the evening. I may leave them a sacrificial 6-pack in the fridge just to call it quits. Not sure if that would appease them or lure them in for a more in-depth search though. Never been searched in all the years I've attended. It's not like I look like a guy that would get out of control if I partook in some spirits at my camp. I'm 64 years old with grey hair and a wife.

At 8:00 I'll be setting up my EZ-UP right at the corner of turn 10A/10B on the infield side directly in front of the Big Screen display. Can't mis it... White with red letters JT on all four sides. Hope to see you there.

I'll be over by the bathrooms at the end of the Esses. You'll know me by all the Mazda racing banners up hand hanging from my awnings

Just outta curiosity what are the bugs like at the track in October? I know down here in Florida the mosquitos are still pretty murderous

Usually there's not much of a problem with bugs in October at the Petit. The biggest problem bugs seem to be ants and stinkbugs. I would bring some mosquitos spray, but I wouldn't worry about them carrying you off.

Gotta figure out the new loading plan in the new truck, short box and no Ramboxes so I'll have to adjust. Possibly go to a soft canopy/topper thing I can remove, or bring less sht

Apparently you have to be Steve Jobs ***** to do so, directs you to use Safari to add. I'm an adult and don't need Apple to hold my hand on my phone and have a grownups phone not a toy damnit

I "missed" the inaugural version of paperless tickets here, which if I'm honest, is about 8 years behind everyone else. Gone are the days where we can collect ticket stubs to prove we were at an event.
But F IOS and everything about it. |

Last year, they had paper "tickets" available at the IMSA tent in vender village. You could pick them up once you were at the track. I do understand why they went with the paperless method though. I just wish it was made a little clearer on how the system worked and worked out some of the bugs. This year is a little less buggy. Of course, I won't know for sure until I'm actually inside the track and parked with all my goodies.

So to add to Google wallet you have to actually sign in to the Road Atlanta page and not just click through the link in the tickets are ready email they sent out.

I don't even use Google wallet. I just print out the tickets and show up with the printouts. So far, not a problem. I don't trust electronics enough to risk issues at the Petit.

An interesting read about the history of Road Atlanta.
https://www.racingcircuits.info/nort...d-atlanta.html The video at the end of the article gives a good perspective of the track layout and just how much evident the elevation changes are. Last edited by JT240Z; 20 Jul 2023 at 18:38. |

I have been informed that I will have to use my own car this year instead of the wifes larger suv. I don't know if my coolers can actually all fit in my car, i'm going to have to do some test runs in Sept.

My vehicle shrunk by 8" so I'll have to test or just say screw it and trailer for the grill and coolers

aaah yes. It's about time to start creating and worrying about check lists.
One of our friends that comes with us decided he was tired of renting an RV, so he went out and bought a brand new monstrosity of a class A. I don't hate that decision. |

Hope he's got a spot paid for. All RV spots are filled up in both reserved and non-reserved. Reserved waiting list is at 100 people, and they've stopped taking more until next year's race.
