MaskedRacer User has been fined for unsportsmanlike behaviour!
I saw the qualifying session on a video on YT somewhere. It was cool to see all of these F3 and FE drivers in the GT cars. I never heard of Mortora until today in fact. Neat that a) Rosenqvist is there b)That he is in a Scurderia Corse Ferrari. Hope someone like him and Morotra end up in a GTD car at Daytona.

How did Van der zande end up in the Acura? I don't recall any connections to him with that company. He was a Mercedes guy, now a General Motors guy.

Dang that downhill hairpin is literally wide enough for one car before the apex and its so tight. That corner is insane.

Van der Zande is a Macau GT Cup specialist and had an Italian girlfriend before.

I can see Audi and Porsche fanbase is not dealing well with Mercs dominance.

Btw I am impressed with Romain Dumas. Ironic.

For sure at least 1/2 the grid got some damage in that accident 😩 only the first 4 cars were not involved

The only way I see this event being doable with GT cars is by turning it into a time trial competition. Otherwise, every year is much of the same, with huge pile-ups and red flags.

But if all participating teams don't mind paying for all this unnecessary damage, then that's also fine by me...

Just seen the video of the crash, what a joke this race is, every year the accidents happen and the race gets red flagged, why does anyone bother to risk an expensive car not to mention the lives of the drivers

Somewhat of a shame that the race starts behind the SC but its probably for the best, although the track is dry enough for everyone to begin on slicks.

Great format, concept, grid.... the quality of the entry list every year makes me forget that the Racing at Macau is barely worth classing as racing

As much as we see limited overtaking, watching the front runners drive the absolute wheels off the cars like Engel and Farfus were was a joy to watch.

Would prefer a Wolrd Cup to be somewhere to be honest.

Nordschleife springs to mind but it doesnt have a casino happy to pay for the category to be there.....

Yes!!! Let's make it in Bahrain, Dubai or Paul Ricard. Empty stands, no charisma, no challenge. You build on failure anyway.

Actually I'd rather watch a race on those three tracks, but maybe that's just me.

I mean, you can at least do a full race on green flag in theory at those tracks...

Those are all better because you'd actually be able to have a race there.

I love the idea of Macau, but it's time to admit that it doesn't work. The best option, if the circuit is still available and the weather is fine at this time of year, IMO, would be Potrero de los Funes.

No government money in San Luis, they spend it on building a third racetrack at La Pedrera.

The local promoter will have to want it and pay for it. It is an FIA World Cup after all.

I would be very nervous seeing my superiors if I were the heads of motorsport at Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche when they ask me to explain the repair bill from Macau.

You were the one who brought up those circuits. Rich just said he'd rather see the race elsewhere, and you were the one who went and picked all the negative circuits. Don't blame others for your negativity!

I think the general point from Rich, and us all, is that this is a great concept, let's just see it at a track where you can have some racing, right???? Haha

Thankyou

I too was wondering where he picked those three tracks from considering I hadn't mentioned any of them.

Would prefer the race elsewhere as I first mentioned but that's easier said then done.

Us fans and the drivers would prefer a good track for racing and overtaking whereas the FIA and manufacturers involved would prefer something with plenty of people trackside and someone to pay for it hence why its at Macau.

On this weeks Double Stint Podcast John Dagys mentioned that Dr Stefan Walliser from Porsche suggested some type of tie in with the Abu Dhabi F1 meeting. Thats certainly something I haven't even thought about
