And now for the sht rumors time, S365 reporting multiple paddock sources saying Mid-Ohio out, and Indy in. Cause yeah, that's what all the fans wanted Roger, thanks.

Tobacco is allowed print ads in US but not TV any more so doubt it would fly. If Indy and Cup can't get it IMSA didn't have a chance. But ol they could do the base with updated sponsor in it, Cup has done it a few times at Darlington.

It appears Indy is back on the schedule to replace Mid-Ohio possibly.
https://twitter.com/sportscar365/sta...UMn3aG1Nw&s=19 I got to say I don't see the appeal of going to run a race in front of 300,000 empty seats. sent during haircut |

An event no one other than Indy management and employees wanted. I won't be watching myself, it's the worst road course out there. Daytona night be worse but it's the first race after a long winter and 24 hours. 3 hours at Indy sounds more like torture. The other delightful bit of the giddiness of everyone at it becoming an 8 Hour race. Why the fk would you do that. No one cares. And what, you're gonna take away The Glen cause you sure as hell aren't taking Daytona or Sebring or Petit off the calendar for this tripe. And ask teams about adding another enduro, and in early September before Petit? Oh fk off. No wonder why they didn't have MP write the Racer article, doubt he could have finished it with any positive comments
It appears Mid-Ohio has either turned in to a dump, stopped management from doing anything or has a concerted online presence out to destroy it. Every other story is how terrible the place is now and no one should ever go again. Last edited by broadrun96; 29 Jul 2022 at 20:38. |

But did you see the part where they are going to allow camping on the infield? and all the IMSA support races will be there? and MPC will have a 4 hour race. Now you want to go, don't you?

I'm rather worried by the potentially small crowds at IMS.

It'll probably have strong crowds for a couple of years, but just like with the Brickyard 400, once the novelty wears off, it'll probably turn into just another race. Basically the curse of the 500 at Indy.

I have no doubt the crowds will be lower in the later years. Much lower than the seventeen that are their in year one.

I think the problem is success will be measured by the pagoda sales and not the fans by the track. Trying to convince the bosses at Company X to invest and let's meet and talk it over at Mid-Ohio while we watch the racing you're buying in to. Or hey, we've got this box in the pagoda at Indy and we can show you what you're buying in to there. Much easier sell as even the average person could find Indy somewhere in their memory bank.
I get it but no reason I have to agree or like it |

The announcement of IMSA going to Indy was joined shortly after by SRO confirming COTA (to replace Watkins Glen) - that's a pretty bad day for American sports car racing.
And having the 4-hour MPC race there is just taking the p*ss! |

SRO is very much a side note - and has been for a while now, so I wouldn't bother too much about that.

Hopefully IMSA can keep from going that way but decisions lately don't seem to indicate that. But the France family ain't having good luck in their original product either |

Well the rumors about Bronze only for GTD went splat, no announcement so many of the GTD teams will still be running GTD not promoted.
Petit moved back 2 weeks, Indy Sept 15-17 all classes, Detroit only MPC GS class so IMSA teams can focus on LM. Mid-Ohio gone, no mention of Road America to evening race as has been rumored. GTD Sprint Cup discontinued, could impact some of the teams that ran only sprint races. Daytona again optional for LMP2 and LMP3. Top Bronze driver in GTD will get a mention at each race and season winner gets the Akin Award to LM. https://racer.com/2022/08/05/ims-in-...2023-schedule/ |

Happy about this. Ams are obviously the bedrock of the sport, but any rules essentially mandating the top series becomes more bronzey just doesn't feel right - especially given the influx of factory supported prototypes.

Watching to Michelin Pilot Challenge race. 1h 45m to go. So obviously we’ve just had the IMSA infomercial. Turns out that going to Indy is “great!”. Seems we’ve got it all wrong.
