Appreciating Victor's wry humour there is also point that through the early years of the century Jacky Ickx was wheeled out at so many opportunities it became both hackneyed and probably tedious for him.
Spa is so close to the German border and there isn't a German round so why not celebrate the fact that we can welcome someone like Jochen Mass along? As he was a big figure in all forms of racing when I first started paying attention I for one am pleased. |

Toyota had a good start for the season at Silverstone. And I hope they'll carry on winning at Spa. But we'll see.

I did a little math from silverstone (put it in the ts040 thread) and figure on distance per stint, Audi go at least 22 or 23 laps @Spa in high downforce trim based on theoretical 27 laps in the dry at Silverstone. Porsche and Toyota go at least 24 laps @Spa based on 28 laps at Silverstone. Maybe 25 laps if they push it.

Nothing to do with 'Hybrid' ! The Audi had the downforce in the dry and Toyota #8 had the right tyres on at the right time!

People were saying 43,000 for Silverstone. Spa again is so vast it can be hard to tell by eyeballing it but was healthily busy last year, so fingers very much crossed.

People who are at Spa (or were at Silverstone), what kind of shwag is for sale from the big WEC teams in the vendor area? Just wondering what we were missing here at CotA last year, and potentially this year.

I will let you know tomorrow, but last year only Toyota (regarding Spa) was selling merchandising. Audi wasn't that good. They didn't have t shirts, jackets, hats and all that kind of stuff

At the Silverstone / Spa rounds there tends not to have been a vast amount, although seem to recall a Toyota trailer shop at Spa last year.
Either way it tends to be nothing like the retail frenzy of Le Mans - but maybe an awareness of how activated the US fan base could be a spur to do something more impressive at COTA. |

If the WEC would run at the classic American tracks instead of at a sterile and new track without any history, they might be surprised at the size of the crowds they would draw in the US. COTA is a fantastic track from everything that I have read, but it is nowhere near any of the classic tracks that fans are used to visiting.

Practice 1 in just over 30 minutes, going to be interesting to see who places where. I wonder how Aston Martin plays this race.

Any LT via the FIA-WEC website ? Does not seem to work as far as I am concerned...
EDIT: Okay. The "free" version does not seem to work, but the "non-free" does... Thanks again to the guys that promised a free LT... |

Session is wet right now though with no rain.
Any chance any significant dry running will happen today? It's supposed to stop raining completely early afternoon. |

The #8 car is really on it. I know its early but its 1.5 seconds up on the Porsche and 2 on its sister car.
