Yeah that Zakspeed was gorgeous, didn`t Brunner design that one, didn`t qualify much as i recall, don`t think Aguri qualified it at all, wasn`t there a Ligier around that era that Arnoux and Johannson got lumbered with that also looked gorgeous but was a total hound as well, really low looking with curved radiators, anyone got any pics of that?

Porsche cars are meant to be in metallic grey/silver, not red...

Lotus 79, Jordan 191, Rial whatever-it-was from 1988 (the De Cesaris one), Eagle T104, all great liveries.

Best of them all though was the Scarab from 1960. That car is automotive orgasm. Shame it was about as effective as a chocolate teapot.

If you see the Scarab in the flesh, you'll notice her hue is the most wonderful, soul-capturing metallic blue...Yves Klein would have had an absolute fit.

And what about these two?

The classic Camel overall yellow (1989 Lotus 101 Judd here)

Trouble with that Essex livery is that all that chrome made the sponsor logo hard to read, but otherwise quite good.

From the oldies, in the few colour pictures I've seen, I rather like the very dark green BRMs with the orange "lip"...

I'm another designer who has never quite understood why the Canon Williams is regarded as great, and I'm not being bitter as I know the original designer, but for me its just a massive clash of colours and logos.

While the early JPS Lotus were really Black and Gold as the years passed, the colour changed to a light brown/tan almost magnola colour. I never knew this until I say a 92T being refurbished a few years ago. I think the JPS livery really was very special.

My favourites include the Jordan 191, Arrows A2 and the first of the Jaguars (R1 wasn't it). I always like designs to follow the car's form and thats something I try and do on many designs where possible.

Despite that, I do like some more abstract designs, the EJ10 with the Buzzin Hornet graphic worked well and I quite liked the massive Gitanes graphic on Brundle's Ligier one year.

The worse? well the Midland F1 would be up there and I have the MS Renault livery, nasty mix of colours

Just remembered another one. The Brabham BT 52, the year that Piquet won the championship. Originally the car started the season with a white base and blue graphics. Later that year the colouration was reversed, for the better. Little know fact, Peter Stevens designed that livery

IThe Brabham scheme was quite nice yes.

Always liked the Dayglo Orange/Red and White chevrons, sorry guys!

Also the bottle green '91 Jordan, JPS colur scheme, light metallic blue Osella, early black Sauber. Those stand out anyway...

Very sexy.. I like the colouring and the shape.. looks like a streamlined dart, with added 'grrr'

And Piquet won in it (the only BMW powered world champ)

The best-looking F1 cars are the 94 ones... But they were dangerous
I love the Simtek (first photo in the link below)

I quite liked the 1992 Lotus as well, yellow/green, but nicely done anyways.
Quite fast with Herbert and especially Mika behind the wheels, if the car didn't break down that is.

Bernie's cars ALWAYS looked the business. The Martini colours always looked good, but never better than on Brabhams, whether white or red.

I'm surprised no one has put the 1967 Eagle car, that one is beautifull in both color and shape.

I always found the 93 Ligier they ran at Suzuka and Adelaide interesting (didn't like the shape of the car though):

This paintjob is the work of late Italian artist/cartoonist Hugo Pratt.
