My initial leak on the story was for the puprose to bring attention to an otherwise very quite two weeks since the last meeting.
For this series to stand alone there has to be maintained a momentum of stories to keep both the media and the punters interested. I started the thread to invoke some interest in the class, if I have stood on anybodies toes I apologise, as that was not my intent. I rang the so called driver the day prior to posting the thread to confirm what someone else had told me. This person may well of started the thread had I not decided to do it in a different manner, and if that person had decided to do so, would you have been so upset? Is it because of my prior involvement with the driver or is just because your nose it out of joint? I have never stood in the way of this drivers career, infact anybody in the industy knows that is was due to a lot of good work by myself, that he is where he is now. The team involved would probably revell in the fact that some media attention will now follow the imminent release of the details involved. I want to further say, that when it comes to management of a driver, I applaud any work done by the person involved. Upon consultation with the driver, I am aware that the team manager approached the driver directly and the deal was done directly with the driver, no manager involved. It is very interesting to see that having a fan and supporter based relationship with the driver, can cloud the jusdgemend of someone when it comes to the issue of, who's done what for who. The driver involved has had a tremendous support network of friends and relatives and avid spectators alike. Over the yuears he has been one of themost taked about and well liked drivers in the pasddock. At times his bamy army have been somewhat overpowering and I think at times a little bit too over stated, for that drivers own good. We all want the best for the driver and that is why even after some years after I had a fall out with the driver I still regard him as a friend, I am still called upon to consel and at times have still been influential in his career. I want to make it perfectly clear that I have no control over the driver's career as I have a responsibilty to a new driver that I have been contracted to, and that we now have a two year plan in place. My email address is open to any person who wants to commumicate with me and if they want to supply their name to me I will supply my private contact number, so suitable dilogue can be and should be taken away from the pages of this forum. Every one seemed to enjoy the fun in which this thread was posted, so I hope that everyone else can understand the reason I did so. Once again apologies to all those that I may of offended as it was not my intention. |

Good onya Mr Cool! Like I said earlier, the speculation should cease until it's officially revealed in due course.

Big Voice: If you are who i think you are, i understand your devotion to this driver, he appreciates everything anyone has done for him and you of all people should understand why these negotiations are so tenous due to the past history of this driver.

Nothing has come out of this thread, other than the driver in question may or may not have a signed contract.

Noise around and about has Wayne Wakefield punting Brett Peters from his current Greenfield Mowers/Century Batteries Radspeed #40 Falcon as from the Adelaide round, for the balance of the Konica Minolta season.
Is this the news you 'two' wanted to try and tease us to death with? |

Exactly GTR glad you see it that way.
Pete55, don't forget that if it wasn't for Big Voice opening his Big Mouth this thread wouldn't have existed in the first place so don't turn the tables on me. People can speculate all they like, mention any driver they like but until official press releases are brought to the public's attention then there's no point talking about it. That was the message I was trying to get across to Big Voice initially. He should've been patient like the rest of us instead of trying to creat media hype or whatever. Trust me, they create enough on their own ... |

As previous stated, all comments will be put through the appropriate channels when the time is right, you must understand and respect any drivers rights. We thank you for your interest, it's a pity people start rumours.

Well given that Rod Dawson owns the car anyway, that the driver is changing isnt necessarily a surprise. Its not like Mr Peters is giving up a seat in a car he owns.
Interestingly though, the sponsorship has me curious, given that Century Batteries was a sponsor that came with Brett when he was running the Radspeed WRX in GT-Performance, whether that branding will live on in the new arrangement. Unless of course the old Cherry Coke noise becomes a reality and WW gets a car painted in Greenfield and Cherry Coke colours. I must say that the enduro drives would not be a given from here, especially as the car was not sourced from one of the top teams, nor is there any technical tie up with a main series operation.... Mr_Cool , I am a Race Official here at ten tenths I am purely a motorsport fan and not tied to any team or racing venue at all nor do I claim to be , I am simply a huge motorsport fan.
the reason I am race official under my name is that I am the moderator in 3 forums here on ten tenths and am the editor of the History project on the ten tenths main page but thats my involvement in motorsport. thats what this site is about anyway , fans enjoying and talking about the sport they love and thats why I am here. allthough I have done some flagging at local karting events CHEERS Marcus |

Funny reading this thread from the outside looking in ...
Whoever this new driver is and for whatever team it will be, let's leave proper announcements to be made my official media liaisons. I know this a forum for everyone to have fun with but in general, if you know something is going down with a particular driver, then instead of teasing the forums about negotiations, respect shouldve been shown for his management team and nothing shouldve been mentioned. As for the mentions about WW, I remember when he was co-driver with Ambrose back in 01, and the clubbies with the Wagon and have met the guy a few times, great bloke. He won the Bathurst 30lapper in 01 for goodness sake so we know he can drive, would it be that bad if he drove the Ford everyone's mentioning, if he can drive that shibox of a wagon he can have a go at this one. If he gets a drive in the future somewhere sometime then good luck to him! Until then let the WW army contend with him. In all let's not get too serious though, as Marcos said let's "bring the biff back"... but on the track! Clipsal here we come! |

From the noise from every IPRA competitor I have ever heard talk about that wagon, I would hardly call it a "shibox"... Phil Laird might take offence also!
Now the VS he ran for Dave Skillender, the one he won the 30 lapper in, well that is a "shibox" |

Pete55, you were the original one who told me I didn't know what i was talking about. Would Big Voice apologise like he did if I was wrong? He knew what I was talking about. Obvious you didn't. If you know who the driver is and what deal's going down, good for you.

Gee GTR if you want to share a rumour share one that people will believe, WW outing Kelly at DJR would be more believable, NOT
See how easy it is. So Mr Peters sees the door is that really the latest. |
