Maybe Speedsource realized that just like at Detroit, Mazda's recently slightly downsided monthly budget aid of 250 dollars (instead of regular 300$) was only going to help them run one Lola in 6 hour race.
Or perhaps they never had such engine anyway but it's a grand marketing plan of evilness. Next week you'll have press release coming out claiming that their own SKYACTIV-D DIESEL in the MAZDA PROTOTYPE was superior to the tested out petrol option, and way to go in the future. |

Long event at a tight old circuit. I expect a load of FCYs, unfortunately. |

About cautions: This is where the smaller grid helps I think. I for one have enjoyed having these 35-40 car grids moreso than 50-55 car grids. Granted I would not mind one FCY in the first hour to wipe out some LMPC cars :-) For 2016 I would like to see the full season grid increase (via GT cars) to a number in between what I mentioned so IMSA can justify having more split class races. I like the P/GTLM only format a lot as well as GTLM/GTD. |

The new Ford Mustang Shelby 350s took the pole in Conti sport cars challenge. And they look really badass.

No video for today's CTSC race? All that I can find on the IMSA site is Radio.

So, with their typical understanding of racing, IMSA t&s shows SC first with 5 pitstops. ACK!

I hope there are early FCY's to keep the GTLM cars close to the protos. Then by the 2nd or 3rd hour I think it will rain for the rest of the race.

I think the weather will make this a very interesting race. Just wish they'd show the end on fs1 here!

This could be a great example of being on the right tyres at the right time. With so many amateur drivers in the field, lots of yellow is going to be the order of the day I fear

Lots of excitement early, and it has been the gt pros making the mistakes! Lucky not to collect more cars with those spins

Kind of a hairy start for a few drivers there. Porsche rocking the GTLM field at the moment.

Will be interesting next year when we have real GT3 cars with ABS/TC to make them better in the wet than GTEs.
