All a bit sad now really the Scandinavian scene. Have they decided to ditch the TTA cars yet?

Big chance that Volvo/Polestar will withdraw from STCC next season. Polestar will reform into new name.

Emma Kimiläinen told reporters this week hope that the STCC should the visit in the future, at least in Denmark and Norway, at least one of races, preferably also in Finland, meaning by Kymi Ring

Without Volvo STCC as we know it is pretty much dead in the water, isn't it?

depending on if volvo would sell their cars and let them be entered by independent teams, i think stcc could survive for one season without a manufacturer, then maybe they could adopt the tcr rules.

though i don't how it would be about organisation or the fan and media interests without volvo.

They seem to have lost most of that with the TTA-split anyway, so I guess it won't make much of a difference.

I guess it has begun then. I just hope that Volvo pulling out of STCC isn't the end of it then. Perhaps some teams can form a TCR-Series that rises out of the ashes. The Kristoffersons could run a VW Golf for example, Westcoast Racing has Civics, so the ingredients could or in some cases are already there.

Because it's very clearly a dead-end and sometimes the old things have to die to make way for new ideas.

i agree that the current regulations are a dead end but that doesnt mean the entire series doesnt have a future, it would be better if the would use the tcr regulations from 2016 or 17 on instead of folding the stcc completly.

What is "STCC", though?

Does the brand name still carry any positive connotations for Swedish spectators?
And what about the current leadership team? Do they need to go for people to believe that things will get better?!

If "No" is the answer for the first and "Yes" the answer for the second question, there's no need to keep the STCC-name or the people.

I guess it's like DTM in Germany: Fond memories that can't really hold up to today's product.

Lots of spectators this weekend at Gelleråsen, which is positive. Grandstand looked packed and lots of spectators in the grass hill. I guess the fact that STCC did not run here last year and that the Prince won the last race at Falkenberg contributed to more spectators showing up. Strange thing is that I havent heard any numbers on it, one would guess that when the spectator numbers for once is on a high they would like to use that.
