hen henths should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Ricky Collard and Chilton are going well in the free practices.

Yeah not great now they've got the Dynamics ones. Hopefully just teething troubles.

Excellent showings from Watson and Pearson, hope that form carries on and it’s a good battle for the JST.

Start as you mean to go on from Halstead, I foresee…

Fords looking very quick.

Shame to see Thompson so far back.

I'm confused, I thought the new qualifying format was going to be 10 cars going one by one to get pole.

Having the qualifying on Youtube is a huge improvement over ITV Player.

Wow, bit of a surprise polesitter! Great showing against two very strong teammates. Ford VS BMW up front.

So this season will be a season decided by msuk's diabolical new tracks limits farce

Why does Harvey keep going on about track limits? They are still the same rules as they've run in previous years.

Watson 9th after that is impressive considering he's never raced fwd. Clearly that astra has still got some life left in it

Those Fords are OP. They need a boost reduction asap.

With the completion of the first official session of the year, there comes an end to the link back to the Super Touring days, with the first ever official session to not feature a driver who raced in the Super Touring (1991-2000) era.

Chilton & Turkington both date back to 2002 but I believe the 3rd longest-serving driver on the grid is now Stephen Jelley, who debuted in 2008.

And not at Donington since 2014! Doesn’t put Taylor-Smith in such a good light after an underwhelming couple of years previously.

Considering that this was the only qualifying and will be the only race of the whole season that all the cars have exactly the same amount of hybrid available, I really do think that, as usual, you are far to quick to jump on that old bandwagon, especially as the top 7 were only separated by 0.536 seconds!

Well that was a great start . Loved the you tube coverage , so much better than before . Ingram has his work cut out with those mega teams , pity shedden didn’t rock up at Hyundai , he needs some quick back up . Butcher making his traditional slow start , he seems to need a race or two to bed in which can give others a head start sadly . Pity collard missed out at end but new engine means teething troubles expected .
Watson definitely the unexpected star of the show and JST has some good competition, thought for a moment Lloyd might even put a Cupra in the mix, goes to show how stiff the competition for top ten is. Race tomorrow promises to be mega especially mid pack . Vauxhall and Honda showing old dogs have a bit of a bite , good on cookie for being in mix as well . Bring on the first race I am exited

Looks like their stuff is generic Napa Racing rather than specifically BTCC branded.

Didn't realise TOCA had decided to implement the new track limit regs ahead of other series by themselves. Harvey needs to stop saying that it's not BTCC's fault for all the track limit violations today. It patently is as they could have stuck with the "old" rules as everyone else has done.

Anything to slow down Sutton and Hill, the most exuberant drivers on the grid. ?

And, surprisingly, I think the 4th by debut is Dan Lloyd (2010)?

Be interesting to see how badly it affects race results because it will

the drivers have an association and they asked toca for the new rules to be used from the first event so there is consistancy through the whole season instead of having to change the rules after the third event when msuk will change them

good common sense by the drivers
