It wasn't attitude honestly. You'd say the same if I said Mladin has had it just because he crashed today. I give mad props to Mladin. Just like Bayliss, he's still very fast. So if Spies has to work for it, I don't think it reflects badly on him. Too bad for Hacking today. He started third and even led a practice session. But ran off track while chasing the front two before Mladin crashed. He caught back up to Spies but still had a slight gap. Spies had some sort of trouble. Hacking probably could have scored the win had he not ran wide. |

It will depend on what happens to the series. Currently, the "new owners" of the series plan to eliminate all factory advantages, and change the classes around. The idea is that they can get better competition. That formula worked in NASCAR and Jimmy France is behind the new series.
However, Edmondson is making noise about riding on tracks that should be ridden on in the rain. That is a stone deal breaker. No one, and I mean no one, is going back to the 70s era safety. The purchase agreement hasn't been voted on, and unless Edmondson changes his tune, this isn't going to happen. Then it will be business as usual. Art |

Interesting...it'd be good if AMA wasn't so Suzuki centric, and that they go in line with WSBK and got rid of the silly clutch rules...

Nascar approach to Superbike
I think the new owners will take the same approach that the Nascar types have taken in both open wheel and sports cars in America. If you prefer Daytona Prototypes to the American Le Mans Series and prefered the Indy Cars to Champ Cars, then you will like the new American Superbike series, otherwise, you likely will not. The low tech approach is certainly cheaper and will bring in more podium teams, but will be well below the quality of the european/japanese factory teams running in the rest of the world. You can be sure that power will be restricted to allow the "superbikes" to run Daytona without tire concerns and that flagging will ensure safe and very competitive finishes.
Or maybe I am all wrong and the American Superbikes will run circles arround the World Suberbikes. |

Actually I just watched the Speed coverage on Motors and the interview with Mat after the race was brilliant.
He said he was watching Valentino during the GP arce and learned a few things!! Then as a compliment he said "I think that was one of the best rides I ahve ever seen, to not be inspired by that would be crazy" How old is this guy!! Still willing to learn and look up to people! This is why people like Mladin are Gods!! |
