One year an F40 passed us (slowly, around 75 mph) on the way back from Le Mans.
At that speed you could hear the mechanics of the engine working, valves, belts, that sort of thing, but not the exhaust howl. That moment has stuck in my mind ever since - Pure magic. Mark |

..ferrari F430 scuderia, one went screaming past me at full chat on the motorway today, shifted up and it pop'd and sounded like a F430 GT2, oh and that V8 made a pretty good noise as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W-Cj...eature=related god i want one, i dont care if its a good £60,000 more than a normal F430, i would sell my soul to have one of these, hell i would buy it just for the noise alone! |

i used to have a chevy with a 5.7 v8 in and exhausts with no silencers that ended under the front seats it never went out but with it in a concrete garage next doors garage used to vibrate with it running and you could here it from about 150 ft away i once ran it for a mate(in the garage)with us in it and he said that when it started he instantly went deaf(then he got gassed by it)FUN |

I think a Dodge GTX with a 5.2 liter V8 and a supercharger was one of the most astonishing things I have ever heard live (appart from a F1 car).
Appart from that, once I heard a Honda CBR600 F2 that sounded just like a F1 car. Another mighty thing to hear at is a TC Don´t know what a TC is? Click here: http://www.f1technical.net/forum/vie...t=4477&start=0 |

Having said that... perhaps it's a little unfair to include bikes in this thread since there are many great sounding bikes that we can see and hear on the roads most days (And some bloody awful sounding ones too!) Last edited by Bluebottle; 12 Aug 2008 at 07:14. |

My Corrado VR6 sounds pretty sweet when thrashed, but the new Focus RS sounds superb judging by the videos I've seen - verging on old school Quattro, with 5 cylinder thrum plus turbo noises. Want one!!
