According to DSC, Johnny Herbert was due to be racing at Silverstone this weekend (Walter Hayes Trophy for Formula Fords), but is unable to be there since he has had to fly to the States in order to 'allegedly' sign a contract.........

I think you will find that the contract he is signing is with Aston Martin if Autosport have got their facts right, the magazine did also say though that he is in discussions with another team also.

My thoughts exactly Bentley03, who then would he be signing for? You would have to imagine it would be a high profile team with a lot of money. Corvette perhaps? Other than Corvette or Aston Martin I dont see any other GT squad really attracting a driver of Herbert's quality. Perhaps a LMP team though?

i agree with gsmith there is a place in a high profile and competitive LMP1 team and if i was herbert i would prefer to go for the LMP1 drive with dyson much of this discussion with an anonomous LMP1 that herbert goes on about must be dyson as they are currently racing and also have a place for a high profile professional driver next year i can see herbert with dyson but i can also see him with aston its definetely a strange one this one and one we will only tell over time

Why would Johnny have to fly to the United States to sign a contract with Aston Martin? Prodrive is based on the other side of the pond.

Sorry, didn't see Bentley03's post. But I agree, that it seems he has signed with an American team. Could he be spearheading the rumored Cosworth project?

Courage LC70 ALMS mystery team now has a 3rd (development) chassis on the way...(this has the makings of a very serious effort) As reported by mariantic .
This is looking serious indeed . Have we got anybody living in Le Mans who can pop down to the Courage workshop and take a peek in the window to see whats going on ? By the way ..... who builds the chassis for Courage ? |

DSC are currently running a new advert advertising for funded or sponsored drivers for a Saleen S7R next season and more. The race schedule is either a full ALMS season or a full LMS season plus Sebring, Petit le Mans, and Laguna.
There are no details of the team but the potential LMS season suggests they are European. Very intersting indeed. Very Positive. |

This seems like a longshot at best. The Acemco Saleens on Ebay have not generated a bid their second time around. It doesn't seem like there will be a Saleen in ALMS next year despite their success in LMS and FIA GT.
