I don't see the problem. A driver has to take the best deal and it's better to have a good ride then no ride. All the best if it's true.

Well going on MN it is true, as a Ford fan and more as a Seto fan I am very dissapointed that Seto has crossed to the dark side of our sport.
But as a driver he does need an income so has crossed, and for me FORD have only themselves to blame for Seto crossing to the dark side. Ford have treated Seto shockingly since they brought GSR off him. Seto, this hurts but I really do hope you win Bathurst, it's just a pity it is not in a Blue car. |

In reality, a drive is a drive. And a drive for HRT is a very, very good opportunity. If its true, the fact that HRT have Seton for the enduros might tell the fans, who so hate them, a little bit about the way they operate. |

Cmon...who'd knock back a drive in a full factory HRT. This is his best quality ride in recent years, no doubt at all.
If he's dropped some pace, well that's HRT problem, not his. If HRT advertised an enduro vacancy you'd have a line as long as Idol, lining up down the street, helmets in hand, all talking about the times they almost knocked off the reigning champ (in testing or practice) ...this one time testing at Winton, my manager told me I was so fast that I'd have qualified on the front row... The team were amazed at how quick I was compared to their regular drivers... You'll be one we'll definitely keep an eye on... The engineers were really impressed with my feedback... |

I'm with Rotor. It's a no brainer for Seto if it is a genuine offer.

Saw AA in newsagent, nothing in it about this (just old DJR/Jim Beam news), but MN is firm that its true, not just speculation. Anyone know when is HRTs announcement?

It appears to me that this is above all else a rather nice gesture by one Mr Skaife to offer an old friend a shot at a Bathurst win.
As much as I am a Seton fan, the reality is that there are probably half a dozen other available drivers who could do an equally good or better job. However on the flip side Seto's experience is worth a lot, and I'm sure if the car is good and Seto can stroke it along they will still be a real good shot. I still think it's a really nice offer above all else. |

If Mr Skaife and Mr Walkinshaw didnt think Mr Seton had the 'right stuff' there would be no way in the world they would be talking about installing him in car #2 alongside the teamowner! I too would like to see the pair of them win Bathurst this year... Is this possibly the only time Mr Skaife wont get booed at Bathurst by the Ford fans????? HRT announcement is tomorrow apparently (according to MN) |

Skaife has a knack of picking good "veteran" co drivers...seem to recall he did rather well driving with Richards J and Longhurst T not that long ago. For Seto's sake, a Skaife/Seton win at Bathurst would tie up a very annoying loose end.

Wouldn't the General love that?
"Holden provides Ford Legend the elusive win...." Marketing goldmine! Hope it lets him either get into the main game again, or leads to a successfull long term enduro partnership! |

Longhurst and Jimmy were 'past it' when they both won Bathurst with HRT.

The powder room has had some interesting views on this subject... some feeling that the move will blunt the speed of car #2 so will render them slow in the 2 enduros.... .. while others with offices in the Linfox centre suggest that the deal isnt done at all, and its all just "paper talk" Tomorrow's launch (presuming that too is accurate) should confirm either way... |

Firstly, Seton aint past it.
So long as he can get down to a reasonable race pace and maintain a position somewhere near the front amongst other co-drivers and hand it back to Skaife for the run to the flag, he's got a very good chance of winning Bathurst. Besides, Pace cars bunch the field up so much these days, you dont have to be the quickest car all day to win. And besides, knock Skaife if you want to, but he & Glenn go back a very long way, they are good mates, and I'm sure, if these rumours are true, they are very fired up to be racing together. Mark will want to win this thing just as much for Glenn, as he will for himself. To share the feeling of being No1 @ Bathurst with a mate you began your Group A career with some 20 odd years ago would be very special for both of these great drivers. If this is all true, Seton has been loyal to Ford for a long time, of late the loyalty the other way hasn't been forthcoming, to be offered this opportunity from a friend, to race in arguably one of the best cars @ Bathurst is the best decision for Glenn Seton, and good on you Glenn for putting yourself first for a change. Wasn't Peter Brock in 97, when he left the car in the lead and with the fastest lap of the race?
Wasn't Fangio and Branbham when they won their last races and championships? Sometimes, people can become motivated. Last year, Glen was obviously pumped but knew that he'd struggle with a driver with minimal laps in a car that was top 5..... In what could arguably be a race winning car, with a proven winning driver and team, and a person who he arguably considers a close mate - it could pull those extra tenths out of Seto he needs to pull Number 1. |

At least Glenn would get the car off the line properly.

Anyone know if Seto is planning any other racing this year to keep his hand in? I heard something about a Historic entry of his being denied at some event, somewhere....
Would it be worth HRT running Seto in the Fujitsu series (face it, there should be plenty of cars available for that....). You would think the practice/experience come Bathurst time would be worth waiving the fee (as discussed with several other DS drivers) for him. |

Wasn't there a rule a few years ago that former main series champions could NOT compete in the series?

Now thats just getting technical there GTR, but majority of the management team and some other departments are on St.Kilda Road.
They sold the property years ago, the logistics business still operates out of there, as they put in a lot in infrustructure over the years. Here are the new owners...... http://www.macquariegoodman.com/au/m...e_property.htm GTR, do you remember the good old days when it use to be Nissan??? |

I do recall when it made Nissans... can remember being in Melbourne for the release of the Series III Bluebird... the Group C racecar was there.. it was probably late 1984.... The Nissan casting plant is still going out at Dandenong... or the building is still there, whether they actually do much these days when a lot of work actually came from Mitsubishi Australia (who dont make engines here any more) At the AGP a couple of years ago I managed a tour of HSV amongst other things, its not all that much different, except there is now a false ceiling in many places where there wasnt one. |

HRT website appears to be down currently. It was up over an hour ago. Launch might be happening as we speak.

I hope the Seton to HRT is true. Seto last year did an amazing job at Sandown with Courtney even though the car had braking problems and was even more brilliant at Bathurst. To be paired up with his old Godzilla (Nissian Skyline) buddy in a car that is damn quick would be just perfect.
