The DAM 4100 as I understand it was built by Dave Appleby Motorsport, there is also the TPR 4100 as built by Tony Pond Racing.

The story behind the TPR/DAM 4100 goes back to when Tony Pond was alive and him and Dave Appleby got together to produce the car, but due to some legal problems they went their seperate ways and Appleby brought out the DAM 4100 but he created an evo version of the original car

Well, the meeting went well and Darlington and District Motor Club are now going to put a business plan together to get this event running which probably wont be till the second of third month of next year as the palnning, circuit hire and sponsorship money needs to be found.
We are planning on spectator packs and another idea was to get event stickers made and sell some to spectators and such commemorating the event. The event will run to sprint rules therefore giving drivers a fair bit of mileage runs for a similar amount of an SV Rally entry fee. I was so pleased that they have welcomed the idea but like I said a lot of work to do now to get this underway. One reason for a date for next year was that drivers will need as a minimum a National B license and when the event is officially announced they will have enough time to get one if they want to run on the day and possibly a plumbed in fire extinguisher system which I would want as we all know cars do like to catch fire at sometime or another. I think there will be no passengers in the car on account of insurance but thats not decided but you can double enter. More news when things have been offically decided |

New update
As mentioned in Motorsports News on the 1st of June there was an article on a proposed Metro 6R4/DAM 4100 Sprint. It was an idea by myself put forward to Darlington and District Motor Club who have vast experience in running races, sprints, Rallies and Rallycross events. The article in Motorsports news has gained interest from Chris Wise, Chris Tilly, Ian Rowlance,Roger Binyon, Adrian Smekkes,Ali Serpen,Chris Dillow,Rob Lowe,Tom Morris, George Tracey,Paul Cooper, David Pearson, John Melling, Kevin King, Fiona Leggate, John Stone, Ken Hall plus other 6R4 drivers I have contacted. The event will run to sprint rules therefore giving drivers a fair bit of mileage runs for a similar amount of an SV Rally entry fee. One reason for a date for next year was that drivers will need as a minimum a National B license and when the event is officially announced they will have enough time to get one if they want to run on the day and possibly a fire extinguisher system as we all know cars do like to catch fire at sometime or another. A provisional date in February has been pencilled in at the ultra smooth Croft Circuit near Darlington. Work is still on going in finding a sponsor or sponsors of the event. I am currently talking to owners of trade stands so if you know of anyone who would possibly like to have a stand on the event then let me know. Also there will be a stand from the Metro Performance club aswell as 6R4 static displays If there are anymore 6R4 drivers/ owners who are interested in competing on this event then please get in touch through metro6r4onlinenews@yahoo.co.uk |

The slowly sideways group B crowd will be at the Historic Motorsport show at Stoneleigh in February (24th, 25th, 26th) so I'd guess it'll have to avoid that weekend (there were some 6R4's there last year as well as an RS200, Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, assorted Quattros and some other classic rally cars). Hopefully we'll get a firm date for the sprint soo.

I forgot about my thread on here
The latest developments is that it is hoped that the event will be a Group B Sprint for all Group B cars. Several people and potential sponsors have been contacted It is hoped it will run mid March of 06 |

From My idea Darlington and District motorclub are pressing ahead with plans to stage the Group B Sprint for all the fire breathing Group B monsters. The meeting has been pencilled in to take place at the Croft Circuit on March 18.
The awesome sight of Group B cars in action was brought to a halt at the end of 1986 when they where deemed "Too fast to race"- so the spectacle of seeing Metro 6R4's, Audi Quattro turbos and their contemporaries in action again will be quite something. DDMC joint president Terry Wright is now working on getting sponsorship to ensure the event goes ahead. Anyone who can help is urged to contact Terry on 01325 359895 or email cars@darlington-motor-club.org.uk Any drivers wishing to take part please contact my self metro6r4onlinenews@yahoo.co.uk |

I'll be there for sure and it should pull the crowds good luck with it, because from what I have seen this weekend on the Roger Albert Clark, Historic Rally cars pull the punters in.

I'm there!! Can't wait. Hopefully there'll be plenty of dust sheets coming off of some great and rare cars for this event.

I've read elsewhere that some of the 6R4 drivers aren't happy that other group B cars will be out to play and are talking about pulling out Hopefully they'll see sense and get the cars out to play, the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.

How can anyone pull out when no body has entered, a lot of work has gone on testing the reaction of competitors and for it to be purely for 6R4's we will need a sponsor to the tune of £7k to £10k.
By opening it up to all breeds of Group B car we broaden the competitor base and make financing the event a little easier, £3k to £5k might do it It is envisaged that the event will have classes for each make and sub classes for standard and varying development levels. So if all you Group B owners want it to happen e mail your support to cars@darlington-motor-club.org.uk If you have a few grand to spare you can send the cheques payable to; DDMC 99 Windsor Road TS18 4DZ Look forward to the cheques! |

Excellent news So come on group B owners - get the entries in.
(I assume that the slowly sideways group has been contacted about this? They should be able to provide a few entries.) |

OK. The permit has been issued. I have just uploaded the background to the event, regulations and entry form to the web site: www.darlington-motor-club.org.uk So it is now up to the owners or anyone who can beg, borrow or steal a suitable car to compete in the event. As far as the club is concerned if the entries come in and sponsorship is forthcomming in what ever form the event is GO: GO: GO. in the immortal words of one MW!
