Please note:
The competition is now CLOSED. We will take edits from eps and rdjones for their Millenium retirements - but no more. Please do not post any further entries as they will be removed. The thread is still open, so you can comment on what people have predicted, if you wish..... |

Well, 13 of you got it right, although I suspect you were 'slow zone' assisted!

No one picked 3:21.7xx at all. But a few were 3:21.6's and 3:21.8's. I picked Nakajima for pole though, but my time wasn't reached

Picked the pole, winner and first retirement! Not going to be anywhere near contention for the win, but I'm happy with the result! Really fun competition!

Thank u Pilgrimage... I'd pick up Nissan #0 too, but i thought they had a better version from US Delta Wing... pretty dissapointed by myself here for my wrong pick retirement, cuz Nissan was my first bet, but i thought in a wrong time and bet about Ligiers just because were their first race too... but ok u can't be perfect, only Andi can!!!! |

Well I'm now in a position to announce the results of the predictions competition. If anyone wonders why it's taken me so long, I should explain that the scoring formula is significantly more complicated than just picking the pole, the 1-2-3, the laps and the first retirement. Although hitting the nail on the head in any of the categories reaps rewards with extra points, there are sliding points scales for the pole time and the number of laps, plus each way points for predicting a finish in the top 3 - but in the wrong position.
The short answer is that the suggested 'stonewaller' actually isn't, although it was very close (the closest ever, I believe) with only 7 points between first and second. So the results are - in the traditional reverse order: 4th= Distorted Smile and nobster - 463 points 3rd - Mechanic Z - 565 points 2nd - nasdriv87 - 633 points 1st - Truckosaurus - 640 points Although nasdriv87 correctly predicted pole, and all three places, first retirement was missed. Truckosaurus also correctly predicted pole, plus first and second and the first retirement. In additional he was closer to the pole time. In the summing up, the points available for the first retirement are greater than those for the third place and even though nasdriv87 was closer to the number of laps completed, Truckosaurus just squeezed home (after several recounts!). Honourable mentions go to PascaLM and Chiana for being on the money with the pole time (predicting 3:21.8 - pole was 3:21.789). Also to rdjones and TheDude who were the only entrants to correctly guess the number of laps completed. Just to put the points scores above into perspective, I scored a highly disappointing 113! The wooden spoon was snatched from ATLFalconsFAN by bernard b. So Guy (Truckosaurus) wins the sought-after prize of having the most embarrassing picture of himself at Le Mans in 2014 published here at Tenths. Send your best examples to me for consideration please........ Last edited by Aysedasi; 20 Jun 2014 at 21:24. |

At least, my name appears on the board ... not the best place though. Lesson to learn: don't trust your optimism ^^ . Congratulations to everyone
