Hi all,

I am planning to be online throughout the race (in between words for PA commentary)... if folks have useful information to contribute - I will (try to) be listening!

Was a fairly decent race, until about four hours to go when the #3 Topcats Mosler crashed into the tyre barrier at Brooklands and gave the #2 Eclipse Ferrari the win.

Fantastic achievement by the Nick Mee GT4 mob to cross the line second, and notable effort by the #53 'Oriental Express' Marcos Mantis who came fourth, especially as by the end of the first hour they were running as low as 54th.

Drivers of the weekend? Phil Keen in the Eclipse Ferrari, and John Martin in the rather brittle Aquila.

A really enjoyable three days entertainment and the event is so much more fun in sunshine and dry overnight conditions

Bad luck for many of the leading cars, especially the #3 Mosler who lost a 4 lap lead with under 4 hours to go with a scary accident going straight on at Brooklands and burying the front half under the tyre barrier.

Congrats to the #2 Ferrari team and all that finished.

Oh, and Cor Euser... dashing between Dutch Supercar Challenge qualifying and the first race at Spa, night time driving in Britcar, and then back to Spa for the final DSC race! One word: committed!

Anyone know where I can find the results. I have looked on the britcar 24hr website, and nothing. I done some work on the No 63 car, and I would like to know where in class they finished

Great run by the Brunswick Motorsport prepped M3 (#89) to win Class 4 by 6 laps and placed 7th overall!
All drivers had good runs and some slick pitwork got the team a very deserved win.

A fantastic example of a Stealth Softly Softly run... Just keep moving, don't cause/lose time in the pits.

I was out on The Loop, and there was a small, but VERY visible, fire just in front of the left rear wheel, low down. I don't know if that is related to the Throttle Sticking I heard reported, but it seems a bit of a coincidence?

Looking at the car in the scrutineer area it had a flat left rear tyre. It was a weird accident though, it looked like it was going to safely stop in the gravel, then thumper the tyre really hard. I saw a similar thing happen to the 50 Vantage racing Aston at Stowe a couple of hours into the race, it must have skidded for 100m before stopping just in front of the tyres.

the cars seemed very quiet at the Britcar. The Astons sounded just like normal road car Astons and the Marcos's didnt sound so impressive as im sure they used to.. have the regs come down hard on noise levels ?

Certainly the ARC Bratislava car was pinged for noise, despite it being no louder than many BMWs out there? If anything, it was a lot quieter...
I suspect it's one way they get a 24 hour licence, as every other meeting has a Church Break built in on Sunday mornings, when it's a major offence to fire ANYTHING up...

I was flagging the loop. Radio call came through that there was a small fire by the right rear. Lots of black smoke on approach and quite a significant fire from rear right and under the centre - I'd hazard a guess that it burnt through the brake pipes leaving him with front end stoppage only. A shame, they'd driven really well and a good battle was developing.

102 decibels was the maximum this year. The only car to my knowledge that had to make some last minute changes to meet this requirement was the Aquila CR1.

During the brief gridwalk several of the leading cars appeared to have Heath Robinson exhaust mods, most just were the addition of an additional bend to make the exhaust tip point downwards.

I'm sure the noise issue is why the event is scheduled towards the end of the season as the normally poor weather would encourage local NIMBYs to be safely inside in the warm by the time the race starts. With this weekend's good weather they'd be sitting in their gardens and have windows open overnight so there might be moaning letters in the post as we speak.

The ARC Bratislava Porsche 997 Cup got parked for over an hour while the team argued with a VERY unprofessional pitlane official who said the car was too loud to go back out and refused to let them leave pitlane and was very rude, in the end the team went to the race director and he allowed them to make some modifications to the exhaust and allowed them back out, but even then they still had to shift at 6000rpm to stay within the noise limit.

I thought race cars were supposed to be loud.

What happened to the Aquila, off track adventures or did something break?

Driveshaft broke twice in quick succession just before midnight, and again at about 9am. Kept overheating as well, so wasn't able to stretch its legs fully.

Watching John Martin rag it to within an inch of its life was fantastic to watch though!

we saw that too! After the radio speculated it was a Ferrari crashing - the Eclipse appeared moments later - we just knew it was the Mosler. When we heard the car had been recovered to Scrutineering we went and told a team bod that we'd seen the fire; all they knew up til then (so he said) was that they'd been having gearbox issues
