Oh BUM!!!!!
Large grids.................. and I have had my arm twisted to lap core for the commentators - so do not rely on the PA system to see who is leading! The weather forecast is dry but cold (4 or 5c) so PLEASE make sure you have a good set of warm clothes/socks/boots and some hot drinks/soup on post - hypothermia is not pleasant. See you there |

Fred, or anyone else. Can you remember what is the earliest time the circuit staff will let us in. For a normal Mallory meeting I drive up from Mendip the evening before and get access to the paddock, but can't remember what the situation is for PP.

It was a shame to see the damage to Andy Thompson's Seat Leon and Kevin Doyle's Jaguar after the first lap accident in the second Sports & Saloons race. Could it be that reverse grids weren't the way to go for the second races? It could be argued that it was asking for trouble.
Exciting races - Ian Hall's Darrian was a favourite in the Sports & Saloons (what series does he normally race in?). The four-car battle in the first Caterham race was fantastic. Just reward for Andrew McMillan for winning race two, after going off at Shaws in race one after a mega-lunge for the lead. Just how did he manage to go from last to first in just one-and-a-half laps of race two? Enjoyed the day, the fine weather certainly helping! |

I was on at post 7 although to be honest didnt see how it was started, just mid pack argy bargy i think. felt sorry for the seat driver, he went off hard into the tyres and was hit hard in the rear - not a straight panel left.
When the race resumed however the racing was excellent, good day all round, great crew on post. |

Thanks to everybody on Post 8 - five of us altogether, spanning the full range of experience (just as it should be). Condolences to Mrs Fat Clerk, who turned up to run race phones (even got named in the final instructions) but was told she wasn't required. A phone would have been useful as there was rather a lot going on for it all to be on the 'safety' channel. The big wreck at post 7 was almost outdone by a car losing a wheel right in front of me on the M1 going home. Somebody else ran over it but fortunately that's all that happened and everybody got to the hard shoulder OK. I was very relieved to find that the missing wheel wasn't still sitting in the carriageway or, even worse, had gone over the central reservation. Emergency services not interested once advised that nobody injured and the running lanes were clear. I was sent on my way once the HA wombles turned up and had taken my contact details. |

Ooops, forgot to say thanks for the breakfast voucher, drinks and mince pies - much appreciated.
Stuart H - keep off the grass! If there had been a phone I would have been able to put in a report. Last edited by PieMan; 26 Dec 2008 at 21:56. |

I popped in after lunch for a couple of hours....This was one of the most entertaining race meetings I have been too. The Catherham lead battle in race 1 was superb, and the mixed grid of sports saloons (everything from Minor to Chevron) gave an intriuging second race with a number of different leaders ranging from Cortinas to C2s to a Clio Cup car and finally the Darrian.
The multi car accident at Esses could have been worse, I think it was caused by the Scirocco getting sideways (not sure if it was a cold rear tyre or a nudge). Well done to all involved - a thoroughly enjoyable event. There must have been about 5000 spectators by my reckoning! |

Thanks From BARC Midlands Centre
Thanks to all of you for turning out and giving up your Boxing Day with the family(!) and making this a very successful day.
I think that every one, with the exception of a couple of drivers, enjoyed it. See you all at the training day(s). Thanks again from me and the rest of the BARC Midlands Centre Committee. |
