Oh no! Lola entering F1!
They will lose their focus on Sportscars... Having said that, the F1 effort of the great Spyker Squadron has never hurt the little nice cars... they have been welded together with love you know... |

Huh, are we crossing wires here? It does not appear, at least to me, that in this, the Lola<>Aston Martin~Prodrive connention will remain. Is it not 2 seperate entities on the entry list in Lola and Prodrive cum Aston Martin?

I'm not totally averse to seeing the two teams in F1, but I don't think that Lola in particular will get the fan or sponsorship support that they deserve. Your average F1 fan knows Lola only for 1997 and not for the huge success they have had in almost every form of motorsport. I would hazard a guess that that is part of the reasoning behind Prodrive becoming Aston Martin, i'ts a pedigree name which people associate with motorsport...regardless of the lack of facts behind the assumption! |

In responce to the question the thread poses, I don't think much will change if Lola enters F1. Their business is building and selling racing cars, F1 is a marketing project that you invest in. It's the same as Toyota and Honda looking to out-do each other in F1. Sucess in F1 would allow Lola to offer their customers something that their competitors couldn't.

Well, lets all slow down a bit, and actually look at what Lola's chances are for getting into the F1 Championship!
With FOTA agreeing to enter F1 with an ultimatum which says that the Budget rules are cut, the 2010 Season running under 2009 rules and that its "All or None" for the FOTA teams (meaning, that all if not all 9 FOTA teams are accepted, then none of the 9 wants to race!). This ultimatum guarantees that all FOTA teams WILL race next year, as only 8 other teams have submitted to the championship! (incl. Williams) (reason for this is that 14 cars is to little on the grid and the F1 would close-down!). So that takes up 9 of 12 spots (a maximum has been set on 12 teams by FIA) Then out of the 8 non-FOTA teams, 3 are going to be selected! The 8 teams being: Williams Lola Prodrive Litespeed USF1 Campos Meta1 Epsilon Euskadi MarchF1 Out of these 8, 4 seems to be the "favorites" of taking the remaing 3 places: Williams Prodrive Lola USF1 (this is a name which are going to change, but they are best know this way!). Williams are almost guaranteed a place, so that leaves 2 open spots!. So Lola, have a 2/3 shot of getting into F1 where all 3 are teams which are very likely to enter for various reasons! (USF1 being obvious as being an American team!). So in my mind Lola are not going to F1, and i hope they are going to realize that soon, and put an end to there money wasting F1-Project! |

They are going to allow 13 teams. Also, Team Superfund has been entered and may be teaming up with a UK constructor. (Wirth or Lola???) That could explain where Lola's funding MAY be coming from???

A doubt it is Lola, they have allready confirmed their entry independently. It could be Wirth though, we havnt heard much of their entry recently.

Neither Prodrive or Lola are on the entry list... at least not yet.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/76045 But that list is quite provisional, since the FOTA-FIA war is far from over. Including some of the FOTA teams on the list unconditionally probably just adds to the mess... |
