Hope Amy will be along soon to share a bit more info with us all.

I enjoy marshalling for you RX guys, but am not so keen on losing money on non-returnable hotel deposits - think I'll play safe for the rest of the year and avoid the cheaper / non refund rates and pay over the odds for all my bookings later this year.

Hope none of you overseas folk aren't already heading for the ferry / tunnel !

that's bugging me too - it can't be the entries, as Amy had already confirmed that altough they were low, it was still on.

Anyway, hopefully the one in March will be well supported (with it being a BTRDA round too) and we will see all the new cars for 2010 out for a shakedown.

It does mention track license difficulties on the Lydden Hill website.

I wonder if this even will be re-arranged or just put down as a lost cause.

It would be interesting to know what the license issues are and whether or not us oldies could help the sport.

The sport can always benefit from your help, KA. (Even if you are an oldie!)

when you are not wanted / required by LHMC and the BRDA it is difficult to comment. All questions should be sent to Andy Stevens as the Chair of the BRDA ie the Brivers supportforum.

a quick visit to http://www.rallycrossuk.com finds the site to be off air - new site "coming soon" so no other source of information.

Don't quite understand how frost damage cancels racing, yet the school goes ahead next day - surely if it's not safe for "the pros" then "newbies" would really struggle?

Tony, as a member of the BRDA at least i was at the time of your demise. I would like to say you are missed by us all at grass roots level!!! I hope that you will be involved in the sport we all love in the near future as your experience and negotiating skills are sorely missed. I for one would like to have the opportunity to buy you a half!!. Don't be a stranger old boy.

Maybe they can cone off affected areas, for a single car lapping the circuit, but for sde by side racing that may not be an option.

Roads have broken up in many places in Kent, I know many are where there has been previous reinstatement, but I`m sure Lydden must have had patches over the years, that may have suffered with the weather.

A shame really

Well they we're really struggling for entry's so it could have been that, looking at the posted email a couple of pages they sounded pretty desperate.

One thing that comes to mind is the fact that it has been advertised quite well, on the radio, motorway etc. So I wonder how many people will go to lydden on Saturday, perhaps for their first visit to a rallycross/motorsport event, and find it cancelled, doesnt look very good!

Fair enough if there are problems but why do people have to talk in riddles?? - "unforeseen circumstances" and "track licensing difficulties". Better to be honest and just say the track is falling apart because of the weather if that is indeed what is happening! We'll find out anyway...

There was no track breaking up when the price went down
if there is not enough entries then say that ,i no it does not look good for business but dont go down the road of pulling wool over peoples eyes
or it may be cancelled if we can not repair track in time but not a few days before race day
it all looks suspect
shame i was going to go

Exactly, not good for the image of the British rallycross championship, which lets face it has faced several blows over the past year, poor grids, off track incidents.....

I suspect the real reason for the cancellation is an embarrassingly small entry, maybe even below that of the winter series first round last year.

Maybe the track is falling to bits, but of course that doesn't matter for the rallycross corperate event taking place on sunday...

I have never known there to be any patching of the lydden tarmac or damage caused by frost except from a couple of pathes at pilgrims drop (off rally cross circuit anyway)

It must be due to lack of entrys reading between the lines and using any other excuse is PR talk.

I am really disappointed the event has been cancelled, I was looking forward to the first event of the year. Whatever the reason for the cancellation, the winter series has no connection to the British Rallycross championship so why should it tarnish the image.

Just to keep everyone in the picture...
When we left for the Autosport show lydden was still covered in snow and ice which it had been for the last 3 weeks. This put us behind on resurfacing some of the track.
When we returned from the Autosport show the snow had melted and on inspection of the track we found cracks in the tarmac and parts of the rallycross circuit had lifted. We have for the last 3 days tried to get the track up to spec but we decided to cancel to avoid any major track and car damage, the Sunday event is still going ahead as the track is only used by 2 cars at a time and the cars are all a max of 140bhp.. alot less than 550bhp supercars!
I will admit that entries were not at there best but this is no reason to cancel.
I apologise to anyone that had planned to attend.
