That Jager car looked great! Is that its original livery? Whats the history of it?

Glad Lawrie Dunster is ok, he's always quick in that M3.

Was number 32 a white Sierra Saphire? I did notice it in the paddock but not out racing.

Great video Joss also, as always.

Hi, Yes its original livery - as raced by Toni Hezemen. It is a 1971 Grp 2 FIA GTAm....

I noted that Des Thresh's left rear seemed to be in a similar condition. I would guess that the normal braking pattern for the hairpin might have been somewhat compromised in some way.
Thinking about that some more, it's possible that the wheel damage and launch were the result of the rear end contact. I guess we will need to see if the head on video (assuming it was running) fills in the story. (Or some other source of information ...)

i was on the start and finish straight and just as the red flags went out a blue m3, number 33 i think, went by slowly, leaking fluids with quiet heavy front end damage, so i guess its possible that he ran into the back of either lawrie or des thresh (who had been battling closely for the duration of the race)

I was up at the hairpin at the time (looking the other way...doh!) and looked across to see Lawrie, front right in the air and about to hit the tarmac. From what I can piece together, they Lawrie was on the inside, Des on the outside, they managed to trip over eachother while passing a backmarker and Lawrie rode up the wall on the inside (breaking the front suspension), a case of 3 into 1 doesn't go and the result was everyone getting a bit bunched up. The blue BMW then ran into the back of Lawrie as he came back to earth in the middle of the road, there wasn't anywhere for him to go. Lawrie managed to drive the car off the circuit though but much have been in enough discomfort for the excellent marshals to call for the race stoppage.

Anyway, I'll leave my best photo of the weekend here and a link to all the others, unfortunately not many of the Alfas as I was a bit distracted by a phonecall at the time from the Mrs.

I saw the shunt and have some photos. The blue BMW, having started at the back, was about to lap the other two iirc. Much faster car. It ran into the back of Lawrie Dunster's car which then become slightly airborne but Dunster also had right front wheel and suspension damage and Thresh left rear wheel and arch damage.

Now for a couple of laps (if not the whole race as a repeat of their earlier battle in the first race) Thresh had been taking the tight line into the hairpin with Dunster along side on the outside. Looked to be the same this time except the Stringfellow (blue) car was closing.

The order of damage creation is difficult to assess from the photos since I was on the other side of the hairpin. However on landing Lawrie Dunster, absent a front wheel that could cushion the impact, may well have taken a rather heavy jolt or two.

grantp has it right from what I saw on the CCTV - albeit like him I can't be certain on the order of the damage creation.

Yep was a great day, the racing came thick and fast and the weather was kind

My highlights
- Mark Biggers skyline on full boost
- Historic 3 car sideways dice for the lead
- large and varied pre 93 races

Lowlight - a couple of the Tanoy speakers were out of action at the hairpin

Some photos here.

Includes the 2 BMWs having moments at Gerards, Al's smoke screen and part of the red flag incident at the hairpin. Plus Alfas for Zola.

No particular order (for various reasons) but the thumbnails should load quickly so have a scroll around and there will be 'blocks' of photos rather than total randomness.

Details off the AROC website here: http://www.aroc-uk.com/news/2012/alf...challenge-2012

As its in its first year we've been evolving it a little - you'll notice that we've effectively combined the different Categories into the one race.....or widened the eligibility criteria, depending on how you look at it. We think its making for some good racing, with battles throughout the field

We're already thinking ahead to how we run next year, and would welcome input from any potential Alfa racers - feel free to contact me through here, or existing AROC members can reach me on the AROC Forum, of course.
