The Q3 fiasco has a parallel in Moto 3 which is so slipstream dependant that it's developed into a complete farce.

From what I saw, I can't see why the Q3 situation should warrant a penalty.
Yes, the fans were deprived the chance of seeing cars at their limit pushing for pole, but did anyone actually contravene any regulation? Just a simple case of everyone playing tactics and the majority getting it wrong. |

Raikkonen has got a 5 place penalty for a gearbox change following damage due to his Q3 shunt.

Just watched the highlights, what a farce seeing them ALL jockeying as to who can go the slowest so they were not at the front to anyone else a tow. No wonder I'm losing interest in following the supposed pinnacle of motorsport, used to love F1 but much prefer these days watching the FIA World Rally Championship. The rally lads are at least trying to go faster than their rivals!!
Although no rules were broken in the Q3 fiasco today and so no penalties could be applied it doesn't make for good entertainment for the fans. |

I only got to watch the highlights on C4, so a quick question on Q3 procedure. If Q3 is Red flagged, is the clock stopped on that session?

F1 did this at Monza, for the session being talked about. The minimum lap time may have been a bit too conservative though as even with all the foxing, it appears that they all stayed on the right side of the time.

Well that was a farce wasn't it? Feel sorry for the fans wanting to see a last lap shootout for pole, but the drivers got what they deserved by trying to play games, as they missed out apart from Sainz and Leclerc. Would be interesting to see if Renault's position is pace genuine

This is what i was thinking as well. if they all then choose to go out together still even with the sector time limits to grab a tow then use Q2 as a seeding for Q3 run order and send them out in 20 second gaps with minimum sector time of a VSC.
