Oh buggar, Darwin is not eligable for the Autosport award, he is too young for the young driver award. He was 18 in March and it says on the rules that he had to be 18 before January 1st

WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!

I was just watching Look North (The local BBC News programme for Yorkshire), and on it was none other than Rob Urquhart!

There was an article about his injury last year, and it was saying how he "has been nominated for a top award... the McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year!" There was then an interview with Rob in the studio.

Now, although the facts from this article might be completely wrong (He hasn't been nominated yet), I have to say well done to Rob on an amazing bit of PR, and ask "How on earth did you get that"? You shouldn't be misleading the BBC like that, though. Tut, tut tut...

As for the Autosport award, I think they should have listed some of the drivers that aren't eligible, because if Carroll, Barber and Smith can't be up for it then there are going to be a lot of wasted votes.

also not eligable is lewis hamilton, as if he wasn't before. which really does limit it to, well, about 2 drivers...

Just picked up autosport and I notice in the rules it says must have driven single seaters in 2002 are TVR's classed as single seaters then?

O'Schumacher should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
There's a voting form for the award in this week's AUTOSPORT, but it says that all nominees must have driven in single seaters, so how was Simon Pullan nominated last year? As I understand, he's done Locosts, Caterhams & now GTs. Has he in fact done single seaters that I never Knew about.

Simon, I Know you visit the forum, so you'd be the ideal person to answer this.

Have the rules changed this year?

And what has Steven Kane (last year's winner) been upto since leaving Mackie Motorsport (i think for performance reasons-his cheque for winning the award cant have run out after half a season.

Simon Pullan was only allowed in, as I understand it, because he said he had intentions of pursueing a single-seater career. Which I think Rob also says.

Hey rob if you do the thruxton race with us at the weekend, it would make you eligable and you would count on my vote.

Id like to see the selection process changed.

What if it was only open to karters? Its to help guys stepping up and try to find a 'star of the future' not just the guy with the best CV in cars. And since theyd be coming out of karts really no one would have car experience so you'd really get to see how quickly they adapt to F3 and GT cars and what not
