Hardly clinging, from a driving point of view he gave Ralf a kicking this weekend. You have still to answer whether you consider Ralf's drive better than his brothers? Also remember that Ralf went off at turn 3 2 laps after the safety had come in at the start but was lucky no to go into the wall.

Actually, if yoy watch the replay (or if you take of the Pablo loving glasses) you'll see that the spin was a result of a touch with Trulli..they both spun while Ralf was overtaking Trulli.
Either way, he didnt end up looking at the wall like Pablo did. Furthermore..Ralf's drive was better than his brothers because his brother didnt finish..Ralf did..and would have finished in the points too had there not been a red flag. Full marks to Ralf..after a strong race in Sepang..he outqualified Pablo and drove a good race with little reward unfortunately..but that wasnt his doing. |

The most important thing for me is that Fernando Alonso wasn't seriously injured," said Ralf. "The timing of the red flag was really bad luck for me.
"If this accident hadn't happened I assume that I would have been on the podium as many cars in front of me still had to stop for fuel. All in all my car was reasonably good under these difficult conditions, even though I must admit it was really a hard job to keep it on the track." |

I think Ralf will stay, but if he did leave for whatever reason, then I do hope that Fisi will finally get a drive in a car that can win races. After his drive today, who would begrudge him a drive in one of the top teams?

I'm not sure I'd want Giancarlo to go to Williams. The team seems to be in decline. If Michael Schumacher leaves, Ferrari would be a better option...Also, if Toyota gets its act together...

Poor old Ralf. Even though he kept it on the island and his mate was unlucky enough to get caught out he's still seen as the useless, gutless driver.
He took it to the Ferrari today. Did his tyres go off because like JPM earlier he dropped back. However if truth be told they should have stopped the race when Button went off at the same place as five or six other cars went off. Then he'd have netted third. |

Too many drivers (I can't remember names except Kimi I think went around the outside of him with monotonous regularity. Not tough enough to get around I'm afraid.

I hope Ralf is booted and they get a real racer in there instead of a journeyman.
Fisi would be good, but I'd prefer him in a Ferrari. Bruno won't get the call, neither will Pizzonia after his start to his F1 career. Out of them all, I would pick Gene! |

Just for info JV is (apparently) 168. 5ft 11 is approx 180.
which would make 12cm difference. Anyway, I would like to see Fisi in the seat, but wonder how much Williams would have to pay to get Ralf out the seat. |

Back to Ralf, whilst I have no dislike of the guy whatsoever, Brazil was hardly a stellar performance, particularly in light of the pre-reace optimism in Williams. The poor form continues...

Ralf was, in fairness, unlucky with the way the race was stopped when Frentzen, Alonso, Webber and Trulli had to pit again, but that would've still only got him fifth, whereas had Montoya not spun off (the first to go out ofall the victims, so he had no way of expecting the torrent of water) he would've surely challenged for a podium finish.
Montoya's aggression in the early laps was a thrill to watch, with some amazing moves, yet once again Ralf just gave away the position once Kimi challenged on the outside. Ralf has basically got no guts in a fight - dare we suggest that there's something very effeminate about his driving style? |

Just a reminder, people, please keep it friendly and keep the personal attacks out of the forum.
I was a Ralf supporter here when it was just Ralf's Girl, me and...and...Ralf's Girl and me. I have to admit that the fire that once seems to have been there has dimmed and I would be very concerned about my seat for next season if I were Ralfie. Honestly, I would never see JV returning and no one else eligible on the grid springs to mind as a "Williams" driver-except maybe Pizzonia. |

Ralf had a typcal cruise and collect attitude. My nan could drive around at 10mph and finish the race, it doesn't mean she's a better driver than the guys that spun off. For once though Ralf didn't collect and got all the points he deserved.

I tell you what, there's a driver who's escaped criticism depsite some mediocre performances - Jacques Villeneuve. Button has just comprehensibly out-driven him so far this year.

Ralf pitted from 3rd place. And at the moment the race was stopped, he was already back to 7th. |
