Shoe-maker should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It was a bizarre rerun of Malaysia 2002. Michael and JPM came together, Michael came off worst but recovered to score points and Williams scored a 1-2 with Ralf winning.

I think it was Gerhard Berger who said "the only way you could overtake in my day was if you risked bashing wheels".

Malaysia 2002 would be the last 1-2 which Williams scored.

Doesn't Montoya's move show how desperate he was to catch up to his supposedly inferior teammate?

If the situations were reversed (fair enough to Ealf, they weren't) this "desperate" move would never have occured at all though - Ralf would not have even tried to get by. In that sense I believe it is fair to regard Ralf as inferior. The season is very close between the two Williams drivers - let's just see who gets the upper hand after sixteen races.

If it weren't for the dirty side of the track putting 2 cars between teh WIlliamses, I'm sure Juan would've challenged Ralf for the win. Ralf was bette rin qualfiying, no doubt about it, but Juan's raceday drive was one of his best.

Nah, it shows that he can pass people clean but tough and make TGF contrite enough about it afterwards to realise that he'd had a job done on him good and proper and it's no use complaining like his off-sider did and prolong the attention.

I can only add my praise for MS.

Well said! The sign of a great sportsman, which you are!

You are a credit to a team that 'soiled' itself this weekend with the unwarranted and crass remarks of an arrogant boss!

Lest we forget. JPM has admitted that he couldn't overtake Rubens until the pit stops. So we should really tempoer our enthusiasm a little bit. Or should we ignore it and just blindly go on saying how great JPM is even though he was (by his own admission) pretty lacklustre for the first two stints. I got this from one of the F1 sites (Bernie's I think) anyway its out there somewhere.

Montoya made an error in keeping his front tyres for the middle of the race, which might explain his ability to overtake one Ferrari later in the race but not the other (earlier). I know how you hate to give JPM any credit, Peter, and in fairness it was his own error to choose not to change tyres, but there is an explanation for his variable performance.

Yup, but remember that it seemed like Michael was having some pretty notable problems: both RB (since he was gaining on both of them quickly, when MS was in front of JPM) and JPM said as much. That doesn't take away from the fact that JPM performed a good piece of overtaking, and forced Michael into a silly error, but if Michael were running at the usual pace he had been for the rest of the race it would have proved a lot more difficult for Juan to pass him.
