PRF, I totally agree with you. I am hoping to have a chat with Mike in the next week or so, however as he is so busy I do not like to disturb him. I will talk to some of his collegues and find out when he is free. If i get any info that he does not mind being made public I will post some up to date info on here.

Jim,

I'm part of a bunch who follow RML and the MG of Mike's. We had a great evening last September when we visited the RML factory. Saw the EX257 and a Saleen S7R plus other cars such as the Nissan Micra experimental car and the Seat BTCC cars.

Always found RML more than accommodating. As for Mike Newton. What a brilliant chap. Always finds time for a chat. We had a question and answer session and Mike popped into the Boardroom and gave his answers. Back in September he told us what his intentions were. We were rather confused when the words 'hybrid' were used. Now we all know.

No doubt we'll be doing something again. If so, I'll let you know.

[QUOTE=PRF]
Perhaps Mike might not be the quickest guy on the circuit but I think he proved last year, which was a learning year how to handle himself and IMHO did not disgrace himself. One can not compare Mike to Tommy Erdos. However, speed is not everything to win an endurance race as quoted by a Lancastrian legend, Brian Redman.

QUOTE]

How often do we nowadays hear that endurance racing is flat out all the way? Watching the ALMs review on Motors TV last week, the drivers commented that Petit Le Mans is just a sprint race now, flat out all the way. Le Mans is similarly relentless too as lap times of the front runners hour by hour prove. Even by 1988, Martin Brundle is quoted as saying that the endurance races really are driven at full pace, and the days of hanging back to wait and see are no longer.

Durability has improved significantly since the pinnacle of Brian Redman's career, and I would expect that, if asked, he would agree to that.

Yes - and living only a couple of miles from Mike I wish him well too, but that doesn't mean arse licking observations have to be made all the time.

Thanks

Thanks for confirmation of my point.

There are several people who post to the point comments that veer from some of the sycophantic stuff we see, and get slated for stating the obvious.

Fact - Enduro racing is, as near as damn it, flat out

Fact - Mike Newton is a great bloke, and is spoken of in very high regard as an employer as well as comments elsewhere on this thread

Fact - Mike Newton has added much colour to BGT /FIA GT/LMES / LM, and deserves praise for this

Fact - Mike Newton is not quick enough

...but I would be delighted if he proved me wrong, being a local and all.

Cheers lovely

Little if any.

In fact I could see 'MG' coming out of this in a much stronger position if another manufactuer picks them up and/or the unprofitable Rover is ditched.

No effect. I think MG Rover is not putting money in the team.

The MG motif on the car is no more than a flag of convience. When the deal was done, they were strapped for money hence the non arrival of the MG SV in the British GT as well.

Survival. It's the end.

Just wonder if the MG will carry any MG logo's (at Spa) as the company is in receivership.

Media release from the team says: "Although recent developments within the MG Rover Group may result in their input ceasing we would like to convey that although this support has been useful it will not affect the MG Lola EX264 LMES programme in any way." See the whole article on our site.
