Just moved to another car this year (VD95) with another bold engine and as i pointed out to Nick at UCLAN the engine feels stronger than the one in the Reynard i was driving last year.Could be just my impression !. However Jason was saying to me the other day that there are other issues involved. Excessive friction in the drive train, binding brakes etc etc. So perhaps we should not allways blame the engine builder.

The problem is being fixed as we speak - not sure what your point is?
Will be testing at Silverstone on Friday to see if the problems are clear. I would like to say the problem was not with the engine rebuild but with the Lucus Ignition System and the bearings on the rear. |

I went to a wedding once and there was this proper hooray henry there. He was a ginga. But when some cracked a joke at him, his reply was
"I am not ginger darling, I am tertian". Right! That was it from then on. The Tertian ******. |

it managed 3 laps as I read it. but the avenues boys seem to do well with them
(I was only kiddong about the Hutch's engine as it may not have been an engine problem that caused his problem) There seems to be a few small one man bands that seem to make a pretty good engine, John Percy seems to have done a good job with Pat Blakleys, Bob Kerly's always made the parsons team engines which I've always found strong Andy Powels dad seems to have made a strong reliable engine for the pink panther Neil Bold seems to have the lions share Drum engines seems to have appeared in a few cars last year not seen any this year Jadlam gives NES a good rep on engines theres seems to be a few pretty good options out there |

they should all be the roughly the same. If anyone has an advantage then they are cheating. I have followed a few cars who I would say has "suspect" engines.

Seriously though use Bold - don't listen to bs about better engines elsewhere or try and be clever choosing a new builder. With Neil you know what you get - and thats top notch quality and service, theres a reason over half the engines are buit by him! |

I like the individuals who really are experts who get their motors rebuilt by Bold etc. but then 'rework' them for their chassis themselves.
The straight line speed some of these guys get I never understand why they don't go into the engine building business... I think Justin might agree with me. LOL. Then there's the other type of (usually novice) driver who buys a car from someone thought quite quick and they then do well in it. They don't generally maintain it well and blow the engine up eventually. Purchasing a new motor from a reputable engine builder, you never see them get within 1.5 secs of the times they used to do! |
