Snetterton is also a wartime airfield with a memorial?

Im sure the pilots of WW2 would appreciate an airfield becoming a race track as they would have been the fore runners in motorsport if they had the ££ to buy a sporting car and run around the perimeter
Most pilots where average men of the street not the well heeled who raced cars in the 20`s and 30`s after flying how else would they get their thrills look at the Uk race tracks that where airfields Snetterton Silverstone Goodwood Thruxton where croft and coombe airfields? there are few sprint tracks on airfields It makes sense to use airfields as race tracks 1 they have noise and traffic flow 2 the infastructure is 50-60% in place Rockingham was 100 made from nowt however the " do gooders" greenies national heritage can all stick their unwanted noses in let alone 2 parish councils and the main regional council making up reasons to kill off the idea |

John George refutes plans for a circuit in a front page article in the local paper. Seems he wants to relocate his Jag Communications offices there from Bodmin so he has an easier commute from Guernsey. Says the story of a circuit was tongue in cheek but would be nice to do some motorsport there.

That's a shame. It sounded like a good prospect, but by the looks of things would have quite a few hurdles to cross. Mind you, look at the Eden Project...

Sounds like a waste of a thread and a total waste of time to me on a silly joke, thanks for wasting our time!

If St Eval has restrictions despite being by St Mawgan then I could'nt see this taking off. However the road links have been improved on the A30 to dual carriageway almost to the Perran turnoff. In fact the dual carriageway ends at my parents farm which means we can go and watch the emmets queue in the summer!
There has been racing up at the airfield before mind, when we were kids we used to go up there with our bikes, and then our motorbikes. handlebar to handlebar stuff! |
