As just mentioned there was the Nova operation in Japan and David Sears ran the Supernova team in European F3000?

It's nothing to do with either of them. Apparently the nickname came from the reversed name on the mould. It would appear that Nova is an official heir to Avon with company backing and big plans for the future.

Max, I appreciated that fact, and we discussed this when the original announcement was made. My question was purely tangential to it and I wasn't trying to tie the two together; just recalled the name from years ago. |

There were Nova kit cars back in the seventies. Used a pretty standard format of VW donor car, but they were lets say more exotic than your average kit car. Not hugely successful but some had Porsche power from a 914. The centre section opened on struts for access. Just hundreds or so made so not mainstream. In fact here is a youtube clip https://youtu.be/UnvAS9E1M2k A bit of info: https://www.sterlingkitcars.com/hist...module_nv.html And some pics (at a Nova club day ?) |

My dad nearly bought the rights to that back in the day. So glad he didn't, I'd still be living in a cardboard box and lickin' t' road clean wi' ma tongue.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think that James may have provided the answer with his posting about Supernova.

Enna Pergusa
So I did not really want to go to this meeting. Dr Bob had to get back to Australia early so that meant I only had one car to look after. There was a chance of a Co drive in MGB but again owner opted out of the long journey. We had cars at Cadwell and Mallory so I could of been put to good use elsewhere.
I was wrong, Loved every minuet. Got to test a coup[le of cars Friday morning so that's another track to my long list. The people there were just so nice and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. My car ran OK apart from oil still coming out the rear scroll, race number 704 completed for Duncan. I did spend Friday welding up a Lotus 22 that had wishbone break and pulled leg out of chassis. All this was to no avail as the diff broke on the car. Very disappointed. One of my favorite things i love to do is go and have a coffee and quassant in local café near the the tracks we go to abroad. Its great fun absorbing all the atmosphere from marshalls and officials that are involved with the track. Dinner in the evening at various restaurants was fantastic. There were only three grids from the UK. HGPCA, Flavian and Marcel with endurance race and our Formula Juniors. All grids well supported Talking to all the drivers and mechanics it was brakes that were the most common issue. The track is very fast with four chicanes. Weather was lovely apart from thunder storm just before our second race on Sunday. Good old Easy Jet got me there and back with ease . Anyway quick turn around and I am off to Nurburgring tomorrow for another Delta adventure. Pictures below. Happy days guys.+ |

Saw a news item today about a " Waymo " , driverless car in America .
Following a Gardiners ? pickup which had trees in the back . It kept breaking and swerving into cycle lanes and was all over the road . Am guessing it saw the trees waving and was taking evasive action . And they want to bring in driverless cars here ??????? |

'f course I went and more than once, John. I feel like a "poisson dans l'eau" over there, I can keep my bad habit to overtake from the right side and drive like nuts on the left side of the road. Only issues is when I tow a race car on a B road. Our trailers are really large ones!

By the way, from Iain's pics I do see a kwoasson but what is the mess in the tea cup, I wonder… Etna caviar or used racing castor oil? The guy has guts to swallow this!

The main exception was the Peripherique , where the old game was to count the number of undamaged cars , and it was normally only a small amount . But always remember what George Carlin said . "The average driver is not very good , Which means half of them are worse that that " |
