I like this race.
If they call the 34 Turkey car to the pits to repair rear wing after they made the stop then that is really stupid. So I am happy that they won. |

I'd like a debrief on that call, surely the team would have been told to do it in the pit stop?
But when you have Deletraz in the car, you can afford to lose a few seconds! |

I managed to catch about an hour and a half before I had to go out. Very enjoyable. But I found myself mesmerised by the astonishing level of idiocy in the accompanying chat.....

Great race, and it shows that ELMS is a quality place for many of the P2/P3 crowd. As Hyper car continues to grow with new entrants, the top teams will be called upon while others will be moving up through the lower ranks.

Nice to see it still delivering the goods. The series has it's place for P2/P3 cars. It's good to have a series for them while LM focuses more on Hypercars. How long it can last IDK, but it's certainly been a good breeding ground for some teams.

The ELMS race at Imola in early May was cancelled because of pit and paddock building work for F1. And now the F1 race has been cancelled because of flooding. So much for that.

Devastating situation, my heart goes out to all involved. Made lifetime friends & memories during the ILMC trip back in '11 but fortunately everyone seems to be allright. Hope relief for the area will come soon, racing can wait.

So with LMP2s gone from the WEC, what happens in ELMS as a result? (Forgive me if I missed an article somewhere.)
The ACO is guaranteeing at least 15 spots at Le Mans for LMP2s in 2024, with entries coming from ELMS, the Asian Le Mans Series, and IMSA but basic math makes it hard to see how it would be more than 15. So maybe 8 to 11 ELMS cars make it Le Mans. The situation is pretty bleak on the GT side. Given the tight number caps on GT3s in WEC, it’s hard to see there being much of a path (if any) to Le Mans via the ELMS for GT3. And that was always one of the main appeals of the GTE-AM side of ELMS. Thoughts? (Or links to what I missed.) |

We'll probably see very healthy LMP2 entry numbers in all 3 regional series as there's no longer a playing ground on the main stage (see United IMSA announcement for example. Euro Interpol might follow suit).
Auto invites will determine a few extra GT spots, up to a handful is my guess. Beyond that, chances are slim for GT runners to make it into the big race. They're left with the RTLM support races which are heavily subscribed as well (might we see changes, for example LMP2 added and/or separate races for LMP3 and GT3?). On the LMP2 contingency: why not invite the top 5 of each series so there's less favoritism and more transparency for all teams trying to shoot for a grid spot? (just ignoring for a second we're dealing with the FIA/ACO here) |

But since it is ACO, the LMP2 slots will be determined by if you have a hypercar program in WEC. |

ELMS will still have LMP2 and I agree it could be very good for the series, as I'm sure there will be a few coming over from the WEC. Of course LMP2 will still be allowed at Le Mans, so that will help, as some will use this series as prep for the great race

Everyone ready for the 4 Hours of Track Limits this weekend? Hard to believe it's only the second round of the championship.

Yes I watch race and was interesting.
Thought #34 car could win again but had bad luck with tire breaking down. But still finished 3rd and won class. Very bad luck for Fassbender, he did not do wrong but got in accident with other cars often. Also bad lcuk for #28 IDEC, that could have won if not tire broke. Strange feeling that they think the start was OK. I thought was weird and not OK? |

Of course, we've seen all motorsport races start rather sloppily from Formula1 to sportsman-based racing. It's more about the drivers, and how aggressiveness will overrule discipline.

Yes, you get quite a lot in other series, but you wouldn’t think they would do it on a rolling start in a long distance series. They need to stay sensible |

Some food for thought here from DSC on the short to medium term future of the regional ACO series.

That’s fun for ELMS. Will be limited at Le Mans which, while a bit of a shame, makes sense.
