Thanks Terry, wasn't sure. Mr W was a little prescious with roping off of a certain Vauxhall lat week, as was the owner of a Carlton - not sure if both owned by the same person any more?

Where are you? Is the car for fia? Important questions.

If you just want the widest you can get does ound like it might not be fia.

Old style Fia wide arches can be gotten from a few places (try Nigel Reuben), current style, don't think you can get unless handing the whole car over for the FULL body mods.

Hi Toni (you have mail).

All I can find from my old Joe Rauh register is that one previous owner was a Karl Heinz - maybe the owner before it came over to Europe.

Simon Garrards. HSCC and Thoroughbreds racer. It has been to NR's for the current wide body mods (rear arches bonnet and flitch panels and a respray. Bar that it is just like many fia spec Griff, so no idea why he is trying it on at 95K, it is a nice car but doubtful it is in same the same league as John Shipmans (only one in the 6 hours this year, with Shipman Hales and Rueben, so should be right up there) or the Malcolm Johnson car.

He seems pretty fast (came into the TSCC this year with a very fast D-Type rep and instantly faster than all the others, supposed to be in the Class below the top but really as fast as the fastest top cars - they will have to be moved up a class for next year). I can keep him honest on a shorter tracks but the longer straights 80+bhp more really tells!

No idea how spec up the Griff is engine wise. Never watched any HSCC - they allow no mods so of zero interest to me.

many thanks for your email. Did not have time to reply, but will reply in the next days.
I know the historie from 200-5-142 from end of 1983 till today. I am in contact with Mike a long time.
But i do not know any infos for this Griffith before 1983. The car was bought from Gary Slutz from a person in Pittsburg in 1983.

Hi Mark, yep a car rather than an R1 makes perfect sense to me too!

Hopefully have more close races with Simon next year (missing last race this weekend - likley a wet Snet - Eek after a wet SPA!).

More than the Green car. Any idea what went wrong with it, it was going pretty well, looking at the Blue one (Rented for the wkend) finishing 8th I think it was on for a top 5. Saw it limp up Eau Rouge about half way through, Mark Hales did not get to drive it other than putting it P3 in Qualifing.

Brasserie the best place to be for last few (wet) hours, beer and big screens. Chap we were helping finished 19th (16th if excluding Eau Rouge Trophy) - which was a top result from 81st!

Now this is the sort of detail I really love to receive. John Strutt, having seen this thread, has contacted me and provided the following information and pictures about his Griffith which he has owned for over 40 years:-

'I have owned this car since 1970 and, basically, apart from fitting 4 Weber carbs and GT40 heads in the 1970's and the wheels being changed in the 60's, it is completely as it left the factory.

It was ordered and supplied by the factory with a lightweight body and factory installed roll bar. As you can see from the registration it was first registered in Cornwall, the first owner raced it in hill climbs and sprints with some considerable success and then part exchanged it for a Lotus 30/40 with a racing car dealer in North London.

The second owner (a friend) bought the car to tow a caravan, he said he could still out drag anything on the road even with a 10ft Sprite caravan attatched.
He was the one who changed the wheels!!!! It came from the dealer with 4 magnesium minilite wheels, Gerry Marshall of the Barnet Mo Co gave him £30.00 in p/x for the 4 mag wheels and the splined hubs. Some bargain?

Here are a couple of pics from Brighton Speed Trials where I raced the car for 20+ years, best time 139mph x 19.24 secs for the 1/2 mile, a class win, and from Santa Pod.

Anyway, Chassis no is 420/200GB 5028./

JT - That Griff (Mr Strutts) looks the nuts. What part of the Uk is he from?

Great when cars are owned for so long by the same person

Esper. My colour is a British Std Colour, I'd say a bit lighter than the Granny you mentioned.
