Why didn't he just say Continental?
EDIT: Having read it now, it's a press release, so that's why. Don't mention the competition's name in your press release. Still, those Michelins had 4 times the range of Contiental tires. Ouch. Last edited by BullMan; 26 Jan 2016 at 15:47. |

Best not to advertise for Continental when you're advertising for Michelin??
A lot of commercials do the same. Competitor's product sucks big ones...ours is much more betterer. Edit: ^yep... |

Ha, I know it's true that Michelin can make a better tyre, but if I'm playing Devil's Advocate I'd ask what the GTLM winner used over their race at Daytona and what their average speed was.

The given GTE tire allocation is even bigger, and the lame simultaneous refueling/tire rule makes multi stinting useless in any case, so probably more.

That is a good question! At Le Mans the winning Corvette averaged 119 mph, but can't find how many tires they used. Although I know they were able to triple stint once or twice.

And at Daytona, where the (IMO, poor) regulations disincentivise multiple stinting tyres and the load on the outside tyres, in particular, is much higher?

You're right, different track (and regulations) have different effects on tire strategy and lifespan. Maybe with the new T&S this year we can better keep track of tire usage in gtlm at Daytona. |

As I said on the previous page, because of the silly rules there is no point in not using the maximum allowed Michelin allowance, which again is higher than for spec Hoosiers in DP (or any other classs).

There are two questions buzzing round in my head at the moment, the first is what Mr Tomlinson will do with his LMP lookalike and the second is what will Mr Booth's new Manor Endurance Racing company actually race.
Somehow I feel there should be a synergy there but can't quite see what it is, apart of course from two strong Yorkshiremen who both love racing |

This new Alpine could make a very neat little GT4.

Next stop, Alpine road going version of the Renault RS01 so it can be a legitimate GT3 car. |

DC's dislike towards endurance racing has been known for years.

It is good to see rivalry between the drivers and if DC did not see WEC as a rival to F1 he would not have made that comment.

The WEC is better than F1. Having said that. DC is probably mad nobody has come to call him for a WEC drive, yet Mark Webber is there. |

WEC recently has had far more flat out driving than F1s fuel and tyre conservation. F1 is conservation sprint. It isn't even as fully committed as a touring car race anymore.

It's worth pointing out that by my reckoning this is the last Sunday of the year until late December where there isn't at least one decent sized sportscar race happening...

Took me a while to find this thread again!
For anyone in and around London this month, there's an exhibition by Lara Platman called Through The Night at Leica Store City from August 15th to September 9th. It's showcasing Lara's motorsport photography .... at night, so the majority of the exhibition concerns sportscars (there are also photos of historic racing at least). The link to the gallery should give you a good idea of what to expect (i.e. all black-and-white), but I've linked some below as well: Unfortunately I won't be down there at all this summer, but for anyone who is it might be worth taking a look.
