Radio Le Mans staff was smaller this year. It was pretty much just Hindy, Palmer, Shea, and Truswell in the booth.

Yes it appear to be a smaller team this year and they also seem to cover more of the track action rather than consent stream of guests they have joining over the last couple of year. In fact I can only remember two one being Scott Atherton on Saturday night and the other being someone from Michelin yesterday lunchtime.

Even when the 24 hours were up i was still wanting to listen to the RML crew. I was actually quite sad when their studio broadcast ended. Their inclusion of the ambient car sounds was appreciated and really worked well when synced to the Eurosport stream.
I have enjoyed the Eurosport commentary in the past but it really lacked this year |

Completely agree, all of the team members have worked for RLM for a while now so the chemistry was good between them and they know their stuff.

As usual, Eurosport on tv for the pictures, RLM on the computer for the commentary.
Especially helpful when Eurosport were doing their interminable studio bits. |

Awfully helpful at trackside too, especially when the nearest marshal with a circuit radio was 25m away across the track (which may as well be on the Moon)

Great RLM coverage as always this year....
I do have one question, and please don't shoot me down. What's this divorce I keep seeing mentioned in hushed tones and muted phrases across various sites? I really miss Hindy covering races with Graham Goodwin and Marshall Pruett appearing on MWM. I listen to MWM religiously and it dawned on me a few months ago I haven't heard Hindy and GG on the same broadcast in ages. They interact on the RSL collective, but are they fundamentally not allowed to broadcast anymore together? |

I enjoyed the RLM coverage as always, listening to a great deal during qually and the race. I still have some dislikes and disappointment that some great voices are now seemingly lost to RLM. However, my namecheck during Thursday qualifying was a pleasant surprise......

As ever, my constant companion at the track and I would hate to do the race these days without english language commentary in my ears. The roster continues to see changes, as it has over the years, but I do miss the technical input of a Sam or Gemma. It's also a little frustrating when seeing a significant happening on the big screens and we are in the midst of the hourly update. As a personal preference, I'd rather see Shea in the pit-lane than the booth but I am sure there are others in the global audience that feel the other way. Oh, and I know this is not RLMs issue, but the radio signal was bleeding to the French commentary in T23.

According to Eve on the Youtube stream they'd had feedback that people aren't so keen on having a lot of guests, but also it was harder to get people by security this year.
I definitely missed Sam Collins last year and this, I love his enthusiasm and knowledge. Likewise it's a shame that Graham Goodwin isn't involved any more as I've always liked listening to him. That said, I still really enjoy Hindy, Jonny and Shea in the commentary box and Trussers is a stone cold legend. In fact there isn't anyone in the team that I'd lose. |

The lack of a technical contributor was the only downside of RLM for me this year.
I liked the addition of Shea Adam to the main commentary team as it adds a different 'voice'/style (younger/female/North American) to the mix so it isn't just middle aged Englishmen on the mic all week. |

I completely understand that RLM is the gold standard but the app / website comms were excellent throughout the event this year. Great balance of driver insight, opinions and play by play. You can see why RLM suffered slightly from many of the contributors being snapped up by the WEC team. |

I would still prefer a little bit less soapbox, but that isn't unique to the WEC stream thats for sure. |

I was also interested to learn that RLM didn't have their usual spot in the box overlooking the Ford Chicane. They instead broadcast entirely from a box in the middle of the media compound with no view of the circuit at all. All of their commentary (other than from the pitlane reporters) was done from what they saw on monitors.

I confess I didn't speak to my source at the circuit last year so if that was the case Rob, I wasn't aware.
