Is the transaxle THE problem?

In terms of the control components, the transaxle has been the weak link most often so far hasn't it?
Don't know if there has been a common fault or a range of them and also don't know if the problem is a component / manufacturing fault or one caused by load on the casing / driveshaft loading or other items. Was to me always the biggest question mark in the COTF after such a reliable transmission and axle set up previously - hopefully they get them sorted quickly. |

I thought they were going to change over to a LSD at a later date to be determined.. Why give the guys all of the unlocked speed out of the car from the get go, why no leave so room for improvement as this COTF chassis will be around for a few more years yet.. |

On the summer grill series, Steven Johnson said the CoF price is really about double what it should be, $600k (€396k).
Also referred to the on going problem of higher repair costs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=U07_Ny7VwsE |

If you work out what it cost to build & develop the Project Blueprint machine over so many years, its likely in the same ballpark... just not all in one go...
If the teams choose to spend their inheritance from the sale of part of their REC holding to Archer Capital, when it was expressly to be used for retooling to CotF, then whose problem is it? |

COTF was meant to be cheaper to build and maintain, yet the category is losing teams after only one year because they can't sustain the costs. So you could argue it's everybody's problem. |

After the Courtney/Premat smash, a CoF MkII will probably have to come along sooner than expected.

They may need to re-engineer them in the not too distant future to accommodate the 2-door Mustang anyway.

Welds didn't break, that top and bottom bar are one peice the tube was torn where the gusset was welded on. No doubt it can be improved but 190km/h hit from a 1300kg car is a lot of force to hold back.. Quote:
edit quick google shows the wheelbase of the 2014 stang at 107.1" vs FG coon at 111.7" and total length of 189.4" vs 195.1". Whats the COTF wheelbase/length? couldn't seem to find it. Last edited by Bell_End; 6 Jan 2014 at 15:15. |

Ryan Walkinshaw has come out strongly saying there is work to be done.

Others have said something similar. V8SC track record in this is good. If they allow two doors then, it will be SuperGT |

Drivers survive because of chassis damage, not in spite of the damage. The deformation of a chassis absorbs energy, reducing the peak loads on the driver.
Tube failures are another matter, and there may be scope for improvement where that has occurred. |

Not sure how you came to that thinking??
The last non Holden or Ford to dominate the series was a 2 door and, while yes it was a breed amongst itself, it still was no SuperGT. Throughout its history, the sport is littered with 2 door cars that too never got close to the specs of a SuperGT car. Allowing cars with 2 less doors won't make it SuperGT. |

In the history of the ATCC, 25 of 54 winning cars have had two doors including the first 13.
(note i wasnt born for many of the earlier ones so i have made a couple of assumptions.) Up until V8 Supercars/Group 3A it was won by a two door most years including 5 years by mustangs and 17 Bathurst winners Last edited by peckstar; 7 Jan 2014 at 08:24. |

And none of them come close to what anyone could call "SuperGT" in appearance or spec.
A 2 door spec V8SC will be no different from today's 4 door sedan spec cars....they will be just minus 2 doors : ) |
