So, my guess is that Renault would be charged to run the RS01, but Pescarolo and Gintta would get their cars in without it.

It seems to be road car manufacturer = million dollar charge. So Glickenhaus would probably be facing the fee. And I concur, IF a PFV class were in place, they would race the SCG003 in it - they would clearly prefer to run flat out if the option was available, and like the Ginetta G57 the SCG003 can allegedly approach now-old LMP2 speeds. (as can the Ford GT when unrestricted, so an unrestricted GT LM could be seen if a PFV class were to be created)

It's also worth keeping in mind that the manufacturer doesn't have to be the one to pay it up. Ben Keating covered the fee for the Viper and is allegedly putting up at least part of it for the Mercedes. So it might not be an issue - depends on how badly someone would want something in the class.
It is true that you say, a Ford GT in PFV could show its full potential, but it would only be reasonable if it could fight for the over all victory.
On the other hand the rumors of Lamborghini in GTLM or DPI could it really be a Lamborghini PFV?
what were they testing with the 'Extreme' Lamborghini Huracan at Monza last April?
We still do not know yet.

Why would they get a break? Just because they are an LMP2 like car? They aren't on the list so would be running in the other class, a class that I haven't seen a hint of anywhere other than this thread.

Well, why do the LMP2 manufacturers get a break but the DPi manufacturers don't? There's a lot that doesn't make sense about the whole thing, I'm just making the best guess that can be made with the available information.

The best guess I can make is that road car manufacturers get charged, racecar manufacturers don't. (though it had slipped my mind when I made that post that Ginetta makes road cars as well, so they too would probably have to pay up)

If Glickenhaus wants to go IMSA, I'm in.

unlikely, wisest move should be 720 to give visibility and racing heritage to the car. Afterall... as 488 gte is an upgraded 488 gt3; 720 gte could be just a 650 gt3 with a different bodywork (and hope a better tuned engine )

"We are now expecting a quick decision from Peugeot, shortly after Le Mans," says Porsche LMP1 head Fritz Enzinger in the 'Auto Bild Motorsport'. "If Peugeot says yes, then they do not come before 2020 or 2021. Then of course we have to consider whether we want to go for another two or three years in Le Mans, but I can not do that yet estimate."
Porsche made their return announcement around this time 5 years ago.

I imagine there will be a new 720s GT3 to match if they decide to go for GTE. The 650s has been a greatly successful car but again hasn't gained customer success really. Hopefully a new GT3 would be more custom friendly

More likely GT project to go in house rather that with McLaren GT.

P1 is a million miles outside of the realm of McLaren possibility

McLaren all under one roof now. This might be something worth noting towards their sportscar racing.

For sure P1 isn't happening, but if they're able to create an F1 car, they're able to create a P1 car too (but not both at the same time).
